A Day at Work

At Hölöskolan, we are looking for a home economics teacher for grades 6 – 9. You will belong to a work team where you, together with other teachers, take responsibility for and develop the work in the classroom in order to maximize learning for our students. You are responsible for teaching, evaluation, and development of this as well as documentation. 100 minutes of mentorship is also included in your tasks. In the work team, there is a special education teacher who works closely with the teachers. At Hölöskolan, a peaceful study environment and safety are prioritized development areas, and we care deeply about Hölöskolan's lesson structure. Other prioritized areas include attendance monitoring and language-developing, interdisciplinary working methods. A structured collegial work aimed at enhancing teaching is successfully driven by our lead teachers. If you are qualified in additional subjects that are of interest to us, the position may increase in scope.
 

Your Responsibilities

You are a clear leader in the classroom while creating a safe learning environment for the students. You are attentive and meet the students based on their conditions and create positive relationships with students, colleagues, and guardians. You take responsibility for and have insight into the students' results, which means you are responsive to each student's conditions and needs. You focus on learning and see a connection between your students' results and your teaching. You assess students' knowledge based on the criteria in Lgr 22 and have an open dialogue with management and student health regarding students in need of extra support. Contributing curiously, positively, and actively to increased learning for our students through active participation in meetings, conferences, and gatherings of various kinds is also part of your role.

Requirements:
- You are licensed to teach home economics.
- You have experience teaching at the middle school level.
- You relate students' results to your teaching and take responsibility for relevant professional development to grow in your profession.
- You can minimize individual adjustments as you actively work on creating an accessible learning environment for all students.

Meritorious:
- You have experience in mentorship.
- You are solution-focused, positive, flexible, and willing to make your own decisions.
- You work solution-focused and have good skills in seeing opportunities and removing obstacles.

At Hölöskolan, we conduct systematic quality work focusing on accessible learning environments, attendance, and operationally close student health. In order to develop teaching, and thus learning, at the school, our lead teachers conduct collegial work in the area. Time is therefore allocated for both reading current research as well as reflection and analysis of one's own teaching, as we believe this is of great importance.  

Hölöskolan is a municipal school beautifully situated with nature around it in a very quiet and rural area of Södertälje municipality. We are a two-parallel F - 9 school, and about 55 people work with our 420 students. There is a municipal library in the school that has just been renovated and is fantastic. The library is open to students in the mornings and to the public in the afternoons. We also have a library educator who this school year has created fantastic podcasts with our students. Adjacent to the school, there are also sports facilities, football fields, outdoor gyms, and exercise tracks. We have a kitchen that prepares good and nutritious food every day. About 80% of the food is locally grown or organic. At Hölöskolan, we work to ensure that all students, regardless of background or conditions, achieve the goals in all subjects through an accessible learning environment characterized by a salutogenic approach where the clarity of the joint work creates security, which in turn creates well-being. 
 
The position we are looking for is a 60% position, but if you have qualifications in subjects that are of interest to us, the position may increase in scope this school year or in future years.
