Job Responsibilities

As a building permit officer with us, you will work independently and in collaboration with your colleagues on the digital processing of various types of building cases in accordance with applicable laws and practices. The types of cases you work with will vary based on your expertise and the needs of the department, and can thus vary among all types of cases the department is responsible for. At an early stage, prior to the application for a building permit, you will be available for advice to the public and business clients, providing good service and a professional approach both during visits, over the phone, and in our digital channels. We simply want it to be easy to apply for building permits that are complete, correct, and legally secure according to laws and regulations – and you are an important part of that. You and your colleagues contribute to the department's development work, continuously working to streamline our processes and participating in collaborative forms with other administrations and departments.

Together, we develop our building permit service to facilitate collaboration with the business community and improve our customer satisfaction index (NKI). You may also conduct investigations, prepare in-depth assignments, and participate in ongoing urban planning tasks.

The position is a temporary contract and is limited to 11 months.

Qualifications

We see that you have at least 1 year of work experience in processing building permits in municipal operations, and that you have completed training as a building permit officer, architect, or other education that we consider equivalent. You are confident in planning and building legislation, and it is advantageous if you have worked in the IT system ByggR. You value team spirit and a good work environment, and actively contribute to our shared work environment with your positive attitude towards the assignment. With creativity and innovative thinking, you are an obvious part of developing the quality of our work and helping us achieve our goals. To thrive in this role, you need to be able to work in a structured manner as you handle cases that are in different phases. You use your time effectively and work systematically, organized, and methodically, ensuring that the work is completed and following up on the results. The digital development motivates you, and you work effortlessly in digital environments. As a building permit officer, you have many points of contact and are the face of the city planning office to Malmö residents and building actors. Therefore, we see that you enjoy contact and relationships with clients and are driven to contribute to the overall experience in the urban development process and are confident in your own assignment. You are unpretentious and meet every person with understanding and respect, showing humility, being attentive, and focusing on the individual. Previous experience in a service role is advantageous. Since our communication is an important part of our mission, you must have very good Swedish skills and be able to express yourself easily in both speech and writing.

About the Workplace

The Department of Architecture and Building Permits is one of the five departments of the city planning office and consists of three building permit units, an administrative unit, and a housing adaptation unit. We are a dynamic and creative department that processes building permits, technical notifications, and supervision according to the Planning and Building Act, as well as applications for housing adaptation according to the Housing Adaptation Grant Act. The department's focus is on developing Malmö's urban planning from a sustainable and attractive perspective, and maintaining a good and close collaboration with both clients and applicants. The position of building permit officer is located in one of the building permit units, but you will collaborate with colleagues in all units within the department. The city planning office is an authority for planning, building, and land surveying issues. The administration works with comprehensive planning, detailed planning, property formation, building permits, measurement, and mapping. The city planning office works for the residents of Malmö, various actors in the construction market, and others active in Malmö.
