GIL has coordinated personal assistance since 1989. The cooperative has roots in the Independent Living movement, which is based on the principle that those with disabilities know best how they want to live their lives. Normally, the person receiving assistance is the closest supervisor of the assistants, or a person with in-depth knowledge of the individual is appointed.

As a personal assistant, you will support a person with a disability in living the life they want to live. To attract and retain competent and satisfied assistants, we invest in training and events. We believe that development and meeting others lead to motivated and secure assistants who enjoy working with us.

Working hours are scheduled for days, evenings, weekends, and nights with 7.25 hours of sleeping duty at a 50% employment rate.

I am a woman living in Jönköping, who almost has assistance around the clock. The tasks include personal care and assistance with everything related to daily life.

In my home, there are 2 small happy companion dogs, which means you need to be comfortable with and like dogs. I have a summer cottage, so it is a plus if you are interested in plants. I attend water aerobics, so it is important that you can join me in the water.

I would like you to be a good listener, attentive, empathetic, and able to follow instructions easily. It is important that we have good dialogue and mutual respect for each other.

My requirements are:

• You both tolerate and like dogs as they are an important part of my life.
• You have a driver's license and access to a car, as it is part of the job to drive my adapted vehicle.
• I also have a summer cottage that I visit, and it is not accessible by public transport, so it is a requirement that you have your own car.
• You are smoke-free as I cannot tolerate smoke.
• You are a woman.
• You speak and understand Swedish well, as I have a hearing impairment.
• You understand what self-determination means, i.e., the person receiving assistance makes all decisions and plans their daily life, and you support the implementation of that plan.

Start date by agreement. Introduction will take place on-site. Describe yourself, your experiences, and your skills, as well as what makes you suitable for this job. The position starts as a temporary employment, and if we get along, it can transition to a fixed-term employment as long as the assignment lasts.
