About the Workplace

Högskolan i Gävle is Sweden's most popular university. We offer about 60 educational programs and 330 standalone courses in the humanities, health and medicine, social and natural sciences, and technology. We have 19,000 students, 750 employees, and a unified campus in beautiful surroundings.

The university has four strategic research areas focusing on societal challenges: Sustainable urban development, health-promoting work, innovative learning, and intelligent industry.

Since 2023, Högskolan is part of the European University EU GREEN, which works to enhance the quality of higher education in the EU and increase exchanges for both students and staff.

The university's vision is to be the first choice for anyone who wants to make a difference.

We offer, among other things:

  • Good working environment: employee surveys show high satisfaction and joy at work
  • Generous wellness allowance, among the best in Sweden's higher education institutions
  • Flexible working methods

At the Department of Economics, approximately 65 employees work within the fields of business administration, economics, and law.

The education is primarily linked to the Bachelor's program in Economics (180 credits, campus and distance), the Real Estate Agent program (180 credits), and two Master's programs in Business Administration (both 60 credits). Research is concentrated around several research directions connected to the university's strategic research areas. The department's facilities are located in the Embla building on the campus.

Job Responsibilities

The responsibilities of the university lecturer consist of education and research at the Department of Economics.

The tasks include teaching in the subject of external accounting at both basic and advanced levels. This primarily concerns courses, including thesis supervision, offered in the Bachelor's program and the Master's program in Business Administration with a focus on accounting. In addition to teaching and supervision, examination may also be included in the position.

Teaching will be conducted both on campus and remotely. The Department of Economics also conducts commissioned education, which means that some teaching may take place within these. The work also includes participating in the department's and subject's development work, conducting administrative tasks, and actively collaborating with researchers in research teams.

The majority of working hours are allocated to the university's campus in Gävle, and high attendance on campus is therefore a prerequisite for the position.

The applicant must have completed higher education pedagogical training equivalent to at least 10 weeks of full-time studies or otherwise acquired equivalent knowledge. • Practical work experience as, for example, an accountant, auditor, controller, or analyst.

It is also a requirement that the applicant is fluent in Swedish and English, both spoken and written. The applicant should have good collaborative skills.
