Job Responsibilities
The university lecturer's responsibilities consist of education and research at the Department of Economics.
The tasks include teaching primarily in the Master's program in Business Administration with a focus on accounting, but also in the Economics program. The position includes teaching courses in external accounting, quantitative methods, programming, and supervising thesis work in accounting at both the bachelor's and master's levels. Teaching will be conducted both on campus and remotely. The work also includes participating in the department's and subject's development work, carrying out administrative tasks, and actively participating with researchers in research teams.
The majority of the working hours are located at the university's campus in Gävle, and a high presence on campus is therefore a prerequisite for employment.

A doctoral degree in business administration or in another subject deemed equivalent by the employer is required for the position. The applicant must have completed higher education pedagogical training equivalent to at least 10 weeks of full-time studies or otherwise acquired equivalent knowledge. For further details, see the Employment Regulations at Högskolan i Gävle.
Furthermore, documented experience in teaching external accounting, quantitative methods, and programming at an advanced level, as well as documented experience in supervising and examining theses at both the undergraduate and advanced levels, in both Swedish and English, is required.
It is a requirement that the applicant is proficient in both spoken and written English and Swedish.
Desirable qualifications include:
- Experience in interdisciplinary research relevant to Högskolan i Gävle's strategic research areas, primarily health-promoting work.
- Leadership and administrative skills from various forms of leadership within education and research, such as demonstrated ability to organize and lead research projects and/or educational programs in the role of educational leader.
- As the main applicant, obtained external research funding in competition with other researchers.
- A strong research merit list, including at least four publications in ABS-ranked journals in accounting, economics, or finance (or equivalent).
- Documented expertise in quantitative methods and their application in accounting, auditing, or sustainability research. Special priority is given to candidates whose research applies advanced quantitative methods such as natural language processing (NLP) and machine learning.
- Professional international certification such as Certified Management Accountant (CMA) or Chartered Accountant (CA).
We seek a candidate with a broad teaching and research profile within the four sub-areas of financial accounting, auditing, sustainability reporting, and quantitative data analysis. The applicant should also have good collaborative skills. Considering the content and responsibilities of the position, and beyond the formal qualifications, Högskolan i Gävle places great emphasis on personal suitability. Documented accuracy and the ability to both take and seize initiatives are highly valued.
