Special Teacher at Vasaskolan

Vasaskolan is a three-parallel F-3 school located in central Strängnäs. We are just a 5-minute walk from the Central Station. Currently, we have about 260 students. The school has an after-school program divided into two departments. We have a stable student base and a competent staff group. We have good resources as the school has SvA teachers, special teachers, special educators, and a counselor.

At Vasaskolan, we set high standards for both students and staff and continuously work to develop the operations and teaching to create good learning situations and high goal fulfillment for all our students. The approach and leadership in the classroom are important parts of our work. We are currently working on developing student health and working based on EHM.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

As a special teacher at Vasaskolan, you will work together with other special teachers and special educators. You will be part of one of our three work teams. As a special teacher, your role includes closely collaborating with the responsible teacher to conduct adapted pedagogical activities for students in need of special support, either individually, in the classroom, or in smaller groups. You should be able to support in both Swedish and mathematics.

Together with the special educator, you will assist the teacher in writing pedagogical investigations, extra adaptations, and action programs, etc. Your responsibilities also include staying updated on compensatory aids and IT, as well as being able to work with these in the adapted teaching. You will be responsible for the Lexplore screenings in the grade you are working in.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who:

• is an educated Special Teacher, with a valid license, for the younger age groups,
• has a good ability to use digital technology in special education,
• has very good knowledge of the Swedish language, both spoken and written, as there is a lot of documentation involved.

You are calm, stable, positive, and have good leadership qualities as well as a strong commitment that contributes to motivated students and increased goal fulfillment.
