At the Academy of Education, Culture, and Communication (UKK), our students primarily study programs in teacher education, but programs and courses are also offered in language and communication, mathematics/applied mathematics, physics, music and opera, as well as the preparatory education technical foundation year. MDU's research focus on educational science and mathematics is part of the academy. Our work takes place in collaboration with the surrounding community and international partners.

Job Responsibilities

As a university lecturer, your main responsibilities will be teaching. Teaching also includes course evaluation and course development. Collaboration is an integral part of the university's research and education mission, and as a university lecturer, you actively contribute to the university's development work. Your tasks will also include general administration and professional development, as well as participating in daily operations within the subject and the academy.

You will teach in the teacher programs for grades f-3 and 4-6 in the subjects of mathematics didactics and science didactics. VFU visits may also occur, as well as potential course responsibility.

Eligibility Requirements

We are looking for someone who has demonstrated pedagogical skill and holds a master's degree or equivalent competence.

The pedagogical skill must be documented in such a way that the quality of previous work can be assessed.

To be employed as a teacher at MDU, higher education pedagogical training or equivalent knowledge is required. Those who are employed but lack higher education pedagogical training will be offered to undergo such training during their employment within two and a half years. The higher education pedagogical training at Mälardalen University corresponds to ten weeks of training.

For this position, the following eligibility requirements apply in addition to those established in the Employment Regulations at MDU. You must have a teaching degree with qualifications in the subjects of mathematics and science for primary school. You must also have good oral and written communication skills in Swedish.

Assessment Criteria

The assessment criteria will include the degree of skill required for the position, as well as the ability and suitability necessary to perform the tasks well.

In addition to the assessment criteria established in the Employment Regulations at MDU, special emphasis will be placed on the following for this position. You have experience teaching grades 1-6.

In a comprehensive assessment of suitability, personal abilities will also be considered. All employees at MDU are expected to collaborate and treat colleagues and students with respect, take responsibility for the operations and their own tasks, and contribute to a good working environment.
