We are looking for a dedicated and driven unit manager for our emergency department and inpatient care within child and adolescent psychiatry. As a unit manager, you will play a central role in leading and developing our services for children and adolescents in need of specialized psychiatric care.

Your mission includes being responsible for leading and developing the unit in line with our vision and values. You will work closely with staff to ensure a work environment where innovation and improvement are prioritized. You are responsible for ensuring that the operations are conducted in accordance with applicable laws, guidelines, and procedures, as well as maintaining a high level of patient safety. You will collaborate with other units both within our organization and with external partners to create a cohesive care chain for our patients.

The psychiatry department in Region Örebro County is one of four areas within the Health and Medical Care Administration. The psychiatry area consists of general psychiatry, specialized psychiatry, forensic psychiatry, and child and adolescent psychiatry. The region has a well-functioning educational environment for practical training and contributes to the development of new competencies through our research activities.

In the field of child and adolescent psychiatry, we have First Contact Mental Health, three outpatient clinics including one with enhanced outpatient care, an inpatient ward with an emergency department, a day care unit for young children and their parents, and a medical unit that supports the entire clinic. Together, we have about 160 employees across various professional categories working towards common processes and goals. The management team of BUP consists of the operations manager, deputy operations manager/development manager, chief physician, medical management responsible, chief secretary, and 5 unit managers.

Responsibilities

• Lead, plan, develop, and follow up on operations according to the region's goals and values.
• Continuously develop the operational methods and routines.
• Improve collaboration and resource utilization for the benefit of the patient.
• Ensure that the operations comply with current laws, guidelines, and procedures.
• Utilize resources effectively within given financial frameworks.
• Create a good work climate through dialogue and collaboration.
• Ensure that employees' competencies meet the requirements of the operations.
• Develop competency development plans and identify future leaders.
• Conduct annual employee conversations and follow the work environment responsibility for Region Örebro County.
• Document and improve the quality of the operations.
• Promote research and the development of new competencies.
• Organize supervision for students and employees in collaboration with educational institutions.

To lead in a safe and competent manner, it is essential that our managers and leaders, in addition to managerial and leadership skills, have a good understanding of the operations and how clinical work functions and develops. The Health and Medical Care Administration therefore sees the involvement of managers in clinical operations as an asset in leadership, which means that part of the position, when possible and needed, is clinical. The extent of this will be decided in agreement with the operations manager.

Qualifications

To be suitable for the role, you have a higher education that the employer finds relevant, preferably as a licensed nurse. You also have experience in leadership, and it is advantageous if you have knowledge of psychiatric treatment work and emergency care. You have good knowledge of the Swedish language, both spoken and written.

We are looking for someone who is a communicative and confident leader with the ability to create engagement and participation. You have a strong interest in developing care and can handle complex situations with both empathy and decisiveness. We also see that you have a strong ability to lead and inspire employees as well as work strategically and purposefully.
