Responsibilities

As an SFI teacher, you will work to provide students with linguistic tools to communicate and actively participate in everyday, societal, and working life by:

• Planning, implementing, and continuously developing, adapting, and modifying the teaching of Swedish as well as the pedagogical methods based on the group's conditions.
• Supporting, motivating, and stimulating students' knowledge development based on their individual circumstances.
• Monitoring students' learning, work, progress, and development to continuously document, follow up, and provide feedback on how each student relates to the knowledge requirements.
• Using the curriculum, examination goals, and subject plans to create conditions for each student's goal fulfillment.
• Issuing written assessments and conducting grading in relation to the goals.
• Using digital tools to enable students to study outside of lesson time as well as to develop students' digital competence.
• Teaching in all study paths within SFI and all modules within basic Swedish as a second language.
• Planning and organizing teaching together with vocational teachers.
• Following up on workplace-based learning (APL) together with vocational teachers.
• Being part of a team with both vocational teachers and language teachers and being involved and active in development initiatives.

Qualifications

Requirements:

• Teaching degree and teacher certification with special authorization to teach Swedish for immigrants and basic Swedish as a second language, all modules.
• Good digital competence.
• Very good Swedish in speech and writing.

Desirable:

• Previous experience in teaching Swedish for immigrants and Swedish as a second language, all modules.
• Previous experience in teaching/pedagogical work.
• Previous experience in combined education.
• Knowledge of another language.

To succeed in the role of SFI teacher, it is important that you have the will and ability to transform your theoretical knowledge into practical application. Here you will work closely with experienced teachers and principals who both support you in your assignment and receive support from you. As an SFI teacher, you will teach students with different conditions and at different levels, which requires good pedagogical ability. You should be able to teach in an individualized, flexible, and dynamic way, and adapt the teaching according to the methods that work best for both students and groups. You also have a strong communicative ability and can plan your work by structuring, organizing, and prioritizing tasks effectively. Collaboration is a given for you, and you see good relationships as a prerequisite for success. You appreciate constructive, professional conversations with colleagues and see this as a way to jointly drive the organization forward.

About the workplace

Komvux Malmö SFI is a central part of adult education in Malmö. Here, there are nearly 5000 students with diverse backgrounds, current situations, and future plans. We are located at:

• Södervärn and Kungsgatan where we combine various flexible solutions
• Avanti where we teach students with trauma
• IRIS school where Roma students study

We work to offer students teaching that can be combined with other commitments, such as work, studies, and parenting. Therefore, we have a well-developed evening education, intensive courses, flexible arrangements, and several other special orientations. One could say that SFI is in many ways Malmö's most flexible school form.
