Your workplace

The Oncology Clinic has a regional responsibility for general oncology cancer care in Värmland. The clinic consists of ward 7, outpatient clinics, radiation therapy, and a palliative team. The ward has 16 beds and some day care places.

In ward 7, we provide excellent care where each member of the team contributes their knowledge. We value and prioritize that patients receive the best care. We collaborate in teams to provide good nursing and symptom relief. We have a holistic view that permeates our care, seeing both the patient and their relatives as important. You will have the opportunity to grow professionally and personally through challenges and new experiences.

Your responsibilities

As a nursing assistant, you have a person-centered approach to provide good care. You support patients and their relatives and participate in planning continued care. You perform checks of vital parameters and fluid measurements, which are recorded in Cosmic NOVA using an iPad. The work also includes venous blood sampling, dressing changes, and care of drains. You contribute to a safe work environment free from cytotoxic contamination and actively work with care plans and risk assessments for falls, pressure ulcers, and nutrition. Teamwork with other staff members is a central part of your job.

The position is a mixed role, meaning you will work days, evenings, nights, and weekends.

Your knowledge and competencies

We are looking for someone with a nursing assistant education and experience from a care ward. It is an advantage if you have further education in palliative care and/or experience in oncology or palliative care.

As a person, you are secure, stable, and empathetic. It is important to us that you work well with others, have the ability to adapt to changing circumstances, and can handle days with occasionally high tempo. You are positive about working on a mixed schedule with both day, evening, night, and weekend shifts.
