Job Responsibilities

As a psychologist in the primary school administration, you will work with several schools and contribute psychological expertise to strengthen students' health and development. In your daily work, you will act as a school psychologist at 2-3 schools. Organizationally, you belong to the psychology unit led by two section managers and a unit manager, all of whom are licensed psychologists.

Furthermore, you can expect the following in your role as a psychologist with us:

• You will be an active participant in the schools' health-promoting and preventive work, including within the framework of the interdisciplinary work in the student health team, collaborating with both internal and external stakeholders.
• You will work with school-related issues, focusing on the educational and psychoeducational perspective in all interventions.
• You will provide psychological consultation and supervision to staff to enhance their understanding, knowledge, and insight into students' various conditions and needs, as well as their significant role in the relationship. You will choose methods based on the case.
• You will actively work to remove barriers to students' learning through analysis and assessment of the needs of the student, the group, and the organization.
• You will be responsible for the psychological part of school form assessments.
• You will work on an individual, group, and organizational level from a student health perspective.
• You will provide ongoing education and professional development for school staff.
• You will contribute to a non-prestigious work climate where collegial learning is highly valued among colleagues.
• You will be part of our systematic quality work, where you are expected to participate actively and have the opportunity to influence.
• You will also have access to supervision, professional development, and be part of a unit with many fantastic, engaged, and knowledgeable psychology colleagues.

Qualifications

You are a licensed psychologist, and it is advantageous if you have experience in psychological work in schools. You have a good ability to communicate in Swedish, both spoken and written, and are accustomed to digital documentation in both reports and journals. A good understanding of children's development and learning, as well as the ability to communicate your psychological knowledge to other professional groups within the school, is required. You also need to have experience in assessing the cognitive functioning level of children and adolescents. It is advantageous if you have knowledge of the school's mission and governing documents.

You have good organizational and planning skills, as the work of a psychologist in schools encompasses a wide area with many different tasks. You actively work to create good collaborations with management and staff at the schools but can also be proactive and independent in carrying out your tasks. Furthermore, you need to be flexible to vary your methods and approaches based on students' needs and schools' requests, and also be curious to explore new ways to tackle challenges.

About the Workplace

The mission of the psychology unit is to provide psychological expertise to Malmö city's primary schools, and we have an educational and psychoeducational focus in all our interventions. The unit consists of about 30 psychologists organized into work teams. We operate based on the National Agency for Education's national guidelines for the psychologist's role in schools. Our interventions should be health-promoting and preventive, with as large a dissemination effect as possible. Our goal is to increase students' goal achievement. We do this by strengthening the schools' and educators' competence and ability to meet, adapt to, and relate to all students, regardless of needs and conditions.

The primary school administration is the city's largest administration, with about 80 schools, 6500 employees, and 36000 students, offering a workplace for everyone.
