Project Description

Research Subject: Applied Mathematics and Computational Mathematics.

The Department of Mathematics at KTH Royal Institute of Technology is seeking candidates for a PhD position in applied mathematics and computational mathematics within a project on Topological Data Analysis for inference of gene regulatory networks. The project is funded by Digital Futures.

Topology has recently been applied to mathematical spaces derived from data. These methods have proven successful in areas such as neuroscience and materials science.

As a PhD student in the group, you are expected to conduct research in mathematics related to topological data analysis in a broad sense, which includes research in probability theory, statistics, algorithms, etc. More specifically, the research project aims to define new topological models for gene regulatory networks and develop the use of topological data analysis in machine learning. The project is interdisciplinary between biology, mathematics, and computer science.

Supervision: Martina Scolamiero is proposed to supervise the PhD student. The decision will be made upon admission.
