Special Educator at Klara Preschools

Stockholm – our capital city with millions of dreams, expectations, and ambitions. We work for everyone living here today and in the future. We are now looking for you who want to think big, new, and differently with us – for the people of Stockholm.

The Northern Inner City district consists of the central parts of Stockholm, Norrmalm, and Östermalm. Here, we work to provide our 155,000 residents with the best services in areas such as preschool, social services, elderly care, and urban development. We welcome you who want to make a difference for the residents of Northern Inner City.

Welcome to us

The preschool department is changing its organization and management structure in connection with the city's decision on a new leadership structure for closer leadership.

In the new organization, there will be a management team in each principal area, consisting of the principal, assistant principals, and special educators.

Klara Preschools are located in Vasastan/Norrmalm, and with the new organization, we have seven preschools. The area is led by a principal together with three assistant principals. The management team works closely together as a team where we, together with our employees, lead our workplace through dialogue and collaboration.

We offer

Klara Preschools work Reggio Emilia-inspired in all preschools in the area. We have a joint development effort and a large collegial exchange between the preschools. We stand for a pedagogical approach based on a strong belief in human potential, a deep respect for the child, and a conviction that all children have a strong inherent drive to explore the world. This approach also permeates the area's leadership.

As an employee at Klara Preschools, you are offered a creative and developing work environment where openness and participation permeate the entire operation. Here, you will meet competent colleagues and an engaged management team. You will also be offered continuous professional development, collegial exchange, and wellness benefits.

Your role

As a special educator in our principal area, you provide operational support for the preschools in matters concerning child health, the preschool's compensatory mission, and children in need of special support. You work proactively and preventively for the best interests of all children, from a salutogenic perspective. You are part of the area's management team, report directly to the principal, and play an important role in supporting and developing the area's preschools. Together with the management team, you develop the preschool's work to create conditions for learning, development, and participation for all children. You are also part of a team with all special educators in the administration for joint planning and follow-up.

Your mission

  • Contribute to developing employees' knowledge of special pedagogical methods and approaches and how teaching can be planned based on children's different conditions and needs, with the overarching goal that all children can develop as far as possible.
  • Together with the principal, management group, and work teams, work preventively and health-promoting to create an inclusive preschool.
  • Be a mentor, conversation partner, and advisor in pedagogical matters.
  • Act as a professional role model and provide practical guidance in pedagogical work.
  • Develop the preschool's pedagogical, physical, and social learning environments at the organizational, group, and individual levels in close collaboration with the area's atelier leaders.
  • Support in mapping and developing action plans at the organizational, group, and individual levels.
  • Follow up and evaluate action plans together with work teams and guardians.
  • Be a support to the principal, assistant principals, and work teams in communication with guardians.
  • Conduct pedagogical descriptions before the start of school in adapted primary school.
  • Collaboration and contact with other actors such as healthcare, primary school, adapted primary school, and social services.
  • Active member of the department's child health team for special educators.

Your qualifications and experience

We are looking for you who have:

  • Special educator training and are a licensed preschool teacher or teacher
  • Several years of documented experience working as a special educator in preschool

Experience working in Reggio Emilia-inspired activities is an advantage.

Interviews will be conducted continuously starting before the application deadline, so apply now. A warm welcome to us! The City of Stockholm works with competency-based recruitment aimed at recognizing each person's competencies and thus counteracting discrimination.
