The adapted primary school (grades 1-9) is currently a small school with about 20 students and is located in premises at Petreskolan.

The adapted primary school aims to provide students with intellectual disabilities an education tailored to them that imparts knowledge and values and develops the students' ability to acquire these. The education should, as far as possible, correspond to that of the regular primary school.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

We are looking for someone with a genuine interest in working in an adapted primary school. You will be responsible for challenging students to optimal learning based on their individual conditions. We seek someone who, through their professional role as a special educator, can stimulate students' development and learning.

As a special educator, you will contribute to development through special educational support. This may involve consultation, guidance, skills training, and tailored professional development efforts. It also means providing support and guidance to educators and resource teams and driving development work in collaboration with others to improve and change working methods and practices as needed.

You will conduct pedagogical investigations/mappings and help design action plans to support students as needed. You have good knowledge of compensatory tools and methods. We offer you a stimulating job where you can work independently but in close collaboration with other colleagues. It is part of your assignment to stay updated on new research in pedagogy and then communicate it to teachers and the rest of the school's staff.

QUALIFICATIONS

You should:

  • be a licensed teacher with a special education degree.
  • have extensive experience working in a guiding role in special educational matters, at the organizational, group, and individual levels.
  • have good knowledge of current governing documents and compensatory aids.

It is an advantage if you have:

  • experience working with children and students in both subjects and subject areas in an adapted primary school
  • knowledge of sign language as support for spoken language and are curious and interested in working with digital tools.

We are looking for someone who is a good team player, works in a structured manner, is flexible, and has good collaboration skills.

You see each individual student and are attentive to what the children want to convey and are skilled at building relationships with both students and colleagues as well as guardians.

You have a positive attitude in challenging situations, remain calm, and are good at finding solutions. You communicate clearly.
