All students have the right to a school that allows them to develop based on their own conditions. SPSM operates schools on behalf of the state. We offer students a learning environment that provides them with opportunities for participation, learning, and development. We offer meaningful, stimulating, and important pedagogical work at our schools.

Hällsboskolan in Umeå receives students with severe language impairment. Our teaching focuses on language and communication. We provide education for students from preschool to grade 10. The goal is for students to have the conditions to reach knowledge goals, be active participants in various social contexts, and develop as individuals. We offer accommodations for students who cannot commute to school every day.

Hällsboskolan is a ten-year, state-run special school under the Swedish National Agency for Special Needs Education and Schools. The school receives students with severe language impairment from all over the country, and accommodation is offered for those who do not live in the area. The school has a clear focus on language-supportive and language-developing teaching and adapts the school day according to the individual needs of the students. The teaching is based on the regulations of special schools according to the basic or adapted primary school curricula. The school's goal is for students to have the conditions to reach educational goals, be active participants in various social contexts, and develop as individuals.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

As a substitute teacher, you may work in various areas at Hällsboskolan from preschool to grade 10. For example, there may be a need for substitutes as teaching assistants, teachers, leisure staff, or residential staff. You will be available when needs arise at short notice. Being available in this way means that a new employment relationship is established each time you are called upon for work. Offers for such temporary employment are usually made verbally. You have the right to decline assignments offered to you.

You document when applicable in the activities you are responsible for during the day and provide feedback to the regular teacher. You participate in creating a safe learning environment. You adapt and shape your work in accordance with the materials provided by the regular staff. You collaborate with colleagues when there is a need for support. You have close cooperation with colleagues and actively participate in the school's contacts with the wider community. You contribute to the school's development.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who has experience working as a teaching assistant and resource function in educational activities. You express yourself well in speech and writing.

  • Experience working with children with language impairment.
  • Experience working with children in need of special support.
  • Experience working with children with neuropsychiatric disabilities.
  • Experience working as a teacher.
  • Experience working as a leisure educator.
  • Experience working as a teaching assistant.
  • Pedagogical education, e.g., teacher, leisure educator, child and youth program.
  • Experience working with AAC.
  • Experience using IT and media in operations.

You can choose alternative, adapted, and supplementary pedagogical strategies based on children's needs and conditions at both group and individual levels. You are flexible in your working methods, solution-oriented, and have experience collaborating in teams around child groups. Your approach to students is characterized by a low-arousal response. Alone and together with others, you contribute to creating a safe and trusting environment based on mutual respect and good relationships. You have personal maturity, integrity, and are proactive. You have good communication and collaboration skills. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.
