Engaged Circle Leader Wanted at Studieförbundet Vuxenskolan in Malå

Studieförbundet Vuxenskolan (SV) is now looking for an engaged circle leader who wants to make a difference in SV's folk education activities in Malå.

Primarily, this involves activities in senior housing and residences for the elderly with various disabilities or dementia. Activities for other target groups may also be relevant.

The office location is in Lycksele, while the implementation location is Malå. Thus, the position primarily involves activities conducted in Malå. Some activities may also be held in a neighboring municipality when conditions allow.

The position is a permanent part-time employment at 50%. A probationary period applies. Working hours are arranged according to the needs of the target group but with some flexibility to combine with other engagements or jobs. Start date as soon as possible or as agreed.

In our activities for people in residences, we make a significant difference for those who participate. By being present in residences and meeting points, we can offer folk education to those who cannot attend activities on their own. The circle leader is the joy spreader who, together with the groups, creates conversations and experiences.

The circle leader visits residences and meeting points every week for regular meetings with different groups. Times and group sizes are adjusted according to needs and possibilities at the residences and for the target group. During the meetings, the circle leader presents an activity and leads discussions for exchange among participants. Activities and setups are tailored to the needs of the group.

Our activities aim to provide social interaction, memory training, cultural experiences, conversations, and exchanges among participants. Activities can vary and include everything from reading aloud, music, and thematic discussions to simple movement or memory exercises. Activities are made accessible and designed based on the current target group's needs and conditions so that everyone can participate on their terms. The operation requires flexibility to meet the needs of the target group.

We work with a perspective that prioritizes flexibility, responsiveness, development, and improvement. We conduct assessments and evaluations during and after completed activities. The circle leader is supported by a business developer and partners in planning, as well as a group of colleagues with similar assignments and experiences. SV provides materials and suggestions for activity setups.

Those working with individuals living with dementia, for example, need great patience, experience, flexibility, to be low-key, able to start things over many times, and to be accepting and tolerant.

SV provides all circle leaders with basic circle leader training, and substitute circle leaders are connected with a colleague for mentorship and support.

We are looking for someone who:

• Has experience and commitment to the target group.
• Is good at communication and can show patience and tolerance in dialogue with participants.
• Is flexible and can work independently, both in contact with residences and in carrying out activities.
• Can contribute ideas and engagement to develop our operations.
• Can collaborate with colleagues remotely and manage digital tools for documentation and reporting regarding the operations.
