Description

The Department of Law is expanding and currently has over 70 employees. The department is responsible for education within the law program, several other educational programs, and a large number of independent courses. We are looking for a teaching assistant to work within the department's web-based legal overview course, offered at a distance and part-time. The position involves work up to 10% of full-time with varying scope during the period from 2025-08-19 to 2026-06-30. The application deadline is April 28, 2025.

Responsibilities

The main responsibilities include performing teaching administrative tasks and assisting the course coordinator with:

  • The course's email and chat function
  • Answering legal questions within the course's various areas of law
  • Other administration related to the course

The course is online, and most tasks are performed digitally. The content and conditions of the tasks may change over time.

Qualifications

Employment as a teaching assistant is regulated by Chapter 5 of the Higher Education Ordinance (HF). Only those who are admitted to undergraduate or advanced level education may be employed as a teaching assistant (Chapter 5 § 10 HF).

For this position, we are looking for an actively studying student in the law program at Umeå University. Since the tasks include answering legal questions covering several different areas of law, we are looking for someone who has at least 120 credits from the law program. Great emphasis will be placed on personal qualities.
