Bullmarks School is a F-6 school with 75 students, located 30 kilometers from Umeå.
The school consists of two buildings, one completely new and the other fully renovated. We have an incredibly nice school with the best possible conditions for both students and teachers' working environment. The facilities are well adapted for the activities, and each classroom has its own group room. The premises have a good acoustic environment with sound-absorbing materials, creating a calm study environment. The school has its own small library with a very good selection, and there is also the possibility for group work and book discussions. The after-school facilities are well thought out and are in close proximity to the classrooms for grades F-3. The school's outdoor environment is very pleasant, and the school is centrally located in the village with proximity to forests, sports fields, and illuminated trails.
The fact that it is a small school and that we are relatively few working here enables good collaboration between the school and after-school care, creating a solid foundation of security. The students at the school know the staff, and the staff knows all the students and helps to see and support them.
Working at a village school means that the closeness to the students and the student perspective is central to all parts of the work. We work flexibly and with creative solutions, from scheduling to group divisions. The teachers in F-6 participate together in a large work team where everyone helps to plan, for example, outdoor days and theme days and participate jointly in various professional development initiatives.
Job Responsibilities
You will work with two main areas of responsibility. One half of the position involves responsibility for the special education part of the school's activities. This responsibility includes participating in the Student Health Team's work as part of the EHT, where we meet with teachers on a rolling schedule and work on the development of the different classes, but also provide support to teachers, students, or families. Close collaboration also takes place with the principal, where you jointly support teachers, and you become an important link between the operations and the principal. Collaboration with guardians is seen as a very important part of your work and a prerequisite for creating good collaboration. You will work in a guiding role with teachers in both after-school care and school on issues related to leadership and stimulation, additional adaptations, and special support. In the special education role, you will also work with assessments, observations, student conversations, and to some extent with individual support for students during periods in collaboration with other teachers. You will also be part of the school's Safety Team.
The other half of the position involves teaching Swedish in some classes and collaborating with other teachers in those classes. There is room to discuss other potential teaching wishes based on your competencies, for example, if you have knowledge/interests in art or music.
About You
You are a clear leader in the classroom with the ability to create a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment, structure, and coherence for all students. You are well-versed in the school's governing documents. You differentiate and vary the teaching based on students' needs. You share your knowledge and experiences to contribute to collegial learning. An important part of the teaching role is to build good relationships with students, colleagues, and guardians.
Great emphasis is placed on personal suitability.
Requirements
- Teaching certification and qualification for F-6
- Experience working with children with special needs.
- Experience in teaching and working in F-6
- Valid extract from the criminal record
- Good knowledge of the Swedish language in speech and writing
Meritorious
- Qualified special educator or special teacher
- Developing educational learning environments
- Guidance of teachers within the pedagogical work.
