Job Responsibilities

In the role of Support Educator or Support Assistant, you will activate and guide individuals with autism and/or intellectual disabilities during their stay at the summer camp. You will participate in daily tasks alongside other staff members where care duties are involved.

Together with your colleagues, you will be responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating the activities. In this role, you will document both individually and collaboratively with other staff. If needed, you will provide support in documentation work for colleagues.

The staff's role involves close work with the users. As an employee at the summer camp, you are responsible for meeting the users' interests and needs while gaining a good understanding of their disabilities.

Qualifications

To work with us, a minimum of a high school education is required, and you must be at least 18 years old. Your educational background will determine whether you are hired as a Support Assistant or Support Educator.

Qualifications for Support Assistant: High school program with vocational qualification from the health and social care program, child and leisure program, or other equivalent education deemed comparable by the employer.

Qualifications for Support Educator: Post-secondary education comprising at least 200 YH points or 60 higher education credits. The education should have a clear focus on the disability area and/or the behavioral science area.

Common to both professions is that you must be computer literate and able to express yourself in Swedish, both verbally and in writing.

If you have experience working with individuals with autism and/or clarifying pedagogy, at least 1 year is an advantage, as well as experience with challenging behavior and low-arousal responses.

If you have a B driver's license for manual transmission, this is also an advantage.

Great emphasis is placed on personal suitability.

About the Workplace

The positions are temporary and involve placement at Finnhult or Vomb's summer camp LSS for children and youth with high-functioning autism and/or intellectual disabilities.

The summer camp service according to LSS aims to contribute to good living conditions and is intended to create meaningful activities and a change of environment for the individual.

The overarching goal is to center the user's needs, which means continuously adapting the content to the extent that the user finds it meaningful and stimulating.

The activities are conducted at Finnhult, close to the beautiful nature by Ringsjön, or in Vomb, near the lovely Vombsjön.

During seven or eight days, participants are given the opportunity to meet friends, engage in fun activities on the farm, and go on exciting excursions in the local area.

We organize various summer camp tours during the summer. Each tour lasts seven or eight days. The operation will consist of about 15 employees working closely together with each other and the manager. We strive for you to have good collaboration skills, be attentive, and have great patience.

The summer camp should be permeated by an ethical approach based on Malmö city's policy. The tasks are performed according to what is stated in the Plan for LSS activities in Malmö city regarding participation, self-determination, and holistic perspective.

Since the Malmö residents participating in the summer camp have varying needs, interests, and wishes, there is a requirement for a wide range of activities. The content of the activities may consist of creative and social activities. Many of the activities are carried out individually with the individual user, while others take place in groups.

The operation is aimed at Malmö residents who belong to the target groups according to LSS. Users have varying needs, interests, and wishes. The service and activities are guided by the needs and performed individually with the individual user or together with other users in a group.

In the disability support administration, over 3000 employees work together to create and develop even better support and services for individuals with disabilities. Our operations include LSS, social psychiatry, personal assistance, guides, and respite care. Severely ill children receiving care at home are also included in our mission.
