Folkuniversitetet is the independent and university-affiliated study association. We are a values-driven organization, independent from political, religious, union, and commercial interests. Our folk education is conducted in various forms - in open course activities, targeted community initiatives and projects, study circles in collaboration with associations and groups, as well as lectures and cultural events.

Are you a development-driven leader who is passionate about democracy, civil society, folk education, and culture? Are you convinced that knowledge changes lives and is the right to lifelong learning close to your heart? Do you want to make a real difference in a values-driven organization? Then we warmly welcome your application!

About the position

In Region South, we are now looking for a driven operations manager for our folk education activities with a focus on education, collaboration, and projects. We are in the midst of an exciting time of development, renewal, and change! The guiding principles of the position and the organization consist equally of curiosity, courage, and commitment.

As the operations manager, you have overall responsibility for the development and quality assurance of the operations, which consists of grant-funded activities in collaboration with groups and associations, projects, targeted community initiatives, IOPs, and values-driven welfare. You have a special mission to contribute to increased external funding and to be an ambassador for folk education in various forums. Folk education is facing new challenges. A central task is therefore to implement the necessary change work to meet the future.

You are responsible for the economic and quality results, have personnel and work environment responsibility, and drive the operations forward. You are part of the regional steering group and report to the regional manager for folk education. Your area of operations spans a large number of municipalities and several regions in southern Sweden. Your employees are also located in different places, which means that travel is a natural part of your work. Being comfortable leading digitally and remotely is a given.

About you

We expect you to be visionary, quality-conscious, and innovative in your leadership. You are able to leverage all parts of Folkuniversitetet, based on the value and benefit that Folkuniversitetet creates for individuals and society at large.

You have excellent communication skills and the ability to engage and inspire employees. You have a broad network that you utilize well in your proactive approach that quickly yields results. You are passionate about creating opportunities for people to grow and develop together with your employees.

To succeed in your role, it is required that:

- You have some experience in leadership and budget responsibility. You have previously developed, applied for, led, and reported on projects.

- You have experience working with civil society, education, and/or engagement.

- You may have personal experience of migration and/or living as part of a minority. You may speak another language in addition to Swedish/English.

As a leader at Folkuniversitetet, you need to be goal-oriented and results-driven, as well as structured and clear in your approach. You should find it easy to collaborate with different types of people and to create and maintain contacts both internally and externally. It is important that you focus on renewal and operational development, thereby creating engagement among your employees. We place great emphasis on personal suitability, collaboration ability, and focus on problem-solving in a often fast-paced environment. We also expect you to share our view on the equal value of all people and the right to knowledge.
