Unit Manager for the Property and Street Administration
We are now recruiting a unit manager for the Property and Street Administration's unit focusing on land strategy and port! We are looking for someone who is a good manager and leader with solid expertise in the field and a well-developed ability to collaborate and cooperate.
Responsibilities
The land strategy and port unit at the Property and Street Administration is under the property department, which acts as the city's property owner. The unit is responsible for the management's land strategic work, including the development of coast and port. Here, land strategists work with varying focuses, such as urban development, port, and business. The unit also includes port managers and coordinators for the administration's building permit and detailed plan referrals.
As a unit manager, you will work with strategies for the municipality's property holdings and the early parts of the urban development process based on the comprehensive plan and detailed comprehensive plan, regional planning, etc. You will also work with strategic property acquisitions to meet the city's land needs. Furthermore, you will provide advisory support to the management in land strategic matters and be responsible for monitoring the property report and the city's land holdings.
The coordination of the administration's statements in the planning process, from the comprehensive plan to building permits, is an important part of the work and requires, in addition to the strategic work, knowledge in matters concerning urban environment, exploitation, and similar from an implementation perspective. A central part will be to work through collaboration within the administration and within Malmö city to develop the city's land holdings and work with land strategic issues, where it will be important to successfully build and manage relationships.
Additionally, the role includes actively collaborating with authorities, businesses, and non-profit organizations to develop the city's land holdings in accordance with the politically set goals and directives and to clarify and position the unit's work and issues.
You will be responsible for driving strategies and projects related to the port area in accordance with the master plan for Malmö port, which will require your ability to assess the need for both short- and long-term efforts to develop Malmö port into a leading and competitive port in southern Sweden. Here, collaboration and cooperation will also be important.
Furthermore, as a unit manager, you will have full personnel, budget, and work environment responsibility. You plan based on the decided goals for the department and the unit and lead and distribute the work to support employees and the administration in the best way by providing knowledge, competence, and resources. You drive the operations forward through collaboration and cooperation and by creating engagement and participation among employees.
You report to the department head of the Property Department.
Qualifications
You are a person with a strong interest and commitment to urban development and property issues, where you proactively drive development and improvement work with a strong focus on achieving set goals. You are analytical and solution-oriented with the ability to identify and manage challenges effectively. Furthermore, you possess good communication skills and are a responsive, inspiring, and inclusive leader who can motivate and engage your employees, where your good collaborative skills also enable you to build networks, cooperate across organizational boundaries, and create and further develop good relationships. You are adaptable and open to change with the ability to work in a dynamic environment, where you can switch between strategic and more operational tasks.
Your educational background is preferably as a civil engineer in surveying or urban planning, as an architect, or similar educational background, which we assess as relevant and qualifying for the position. You have at least 5 years of experience in urban development/urban planning/exploitation, preferably within public operations. You possess a well-documented and solid experience in management and leadership and in leading larger, more complex projects and workgroups and coordinating various stakeholders. It is definitely an advantage if you have previously worked with port development, business issues, and/or managed larger investment projects.
Furthermore, it is advantageous if you have completed management and leadership training.
