Do you want to help build the data platform of the future for an open, secure, and robust digital society? At PTS (The Swedish Post and Telecom Authority), data is a strategic asset, and we are currently building modern capabilities in data, AI, and analytics. At the same time, we are undergoing a major transformation as PTS and DIGG prepare for a merger. We are now looking for a Senior Data Engineer who wants to help build the data platform upon which the authority's future AI and data work will rest.
We work with what everyone takes for granted: Communication. With us, you ensure it works now and in the future. For everyone.
The position is located within the IT Development Unit in the Business Development Department. We are responsible for the authority's IT systems, websites, and e-services, and drive the development of modern and sustainable digital solutions.
"My name is Paula Fagerlund, and I will be your manager. I believe in trust before control and that good solutions are created together. As a manager, I am clear about direction and expectations, but give plenty of room for individual responsibility, new ideas, and different perspectives. I appreciate when people dare to think innovatively, question established ways of working, and find smarter ways to solve tasks. For me, leadership is something we do in everyday life, through dialogue, collaboration, and shared responsibility for the whole."
About the role
As a Data Engineer, you develop and maintain the authority's data platforms and ensure that data can be collected, processed, and made available in a secure and efficient manner. You develop data pipelines, data flows, and integration solutions, and work with data quality and data architecture in close collaboration with developers, architects, data scientists, and the business side.
About the team
The IT Development Unit consists of developers, architects, administrators, project managers, and business developers who work closely together in cross-functional teams. The culture is characterized by collaboration, knowledge sharing, and a flat hierarchy. While we develop today's IT environment, we are building tomorrow's platforms with increased use of cloud services and container-based solutions. Since we are a small team, you need to enjoy working broadly and supporting colleagues as needed.
About you
To succeed in the role, you are collaborative and happy to share your knowledge. You have strong problem-solving analytical skills and are driven by solving complex technical challenges. You are curious about new technology and see AI as a natural part of future data platforms. At the same time, you work in a structured manner and deliver solutions with high quality, security, and long-term sustainability.
For us, your personal qualities are important, so we will place great emphasis on these.
We are looking for you who have:
- A completed post-secondary education of at least 2 years in computer science, systems science, computer engineering, information technology, for example from a university, college, or university college (YH). Or other education that PTS considers equivalent.
- Many years of relevant work experience as a Data Engineer or in an equivalent technical role, where the work has included the development of a modern data platform from idea and architecture to implementation, deployment, and maintenance.
- Experience with tools for data orchestration, data transformation, and distributed data processing, such as Apache Airflow, dbt, and Apache Spark.
- Experience with data modeling and modern data architectures, such as data warehouse, lakehouse, or data lake, as well as cloud-based data platforms in Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud Platform.
- Experience with modern development and delivery processes (Git, CI/CD, and DataOps) as well as SQL and Python.
- Experience in developing data solutions with high requirements for data quality, metadata, traceability, information security, and regulatory compliance, for example according to GDPR or within other regulated operations.
- Good ability to express yourself in speech and writing in Swedish.
It is also meritorious if you have:
- Experience with container-based environments such as Docker, Podman, or Kubernetes/OpenShift.
- Experience with Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, or similar modern data platforms.
- Experience with Data Catalogs and metadata management, for example Microsoft Purview.
- Establishment or development of data platforms in connection with major organizational changes or mergers.
- Knowledge of MLOps and how data is operationalized for AI solutions.
- Experience in integrating data from different source systems via APIs, databases, file transfers, or message queues.
