Within the City Secretariat, the City Secretary, together with the Council Secretary, is responsible, among other things, for providing Region Gotland's elected officials in the Regional Assembly, Regional Executive Board, and associated preparatory committees and committees with summonses and documents, for conducting meetings, and for writing minutes.

Currently, important work is underway to improve and quality-assure the case preparation process, where the City Secretariat plays a central role.

Your responsibilities

As a City Secretary, you are part of the City Secretariat within the Regional Executive Board Administration. You will be one of three City Secretaries and work in close collaboration with the Regional Director, Council Manager, Council Secretary, other civil servants, and elected officials.

Your main responsibilities are to plan and conduct meetings with the Regional Executive Board, committees, preparatory committees, and the Regional Assembly, together with the relevant civil servants and elected officials. This involves long-term planning for the entire year, shorter-term planning before each meeting, and detailed planning for each case. The role of City Secretary also includes supporting case handlers in case preparation and other committee secretaries in the case process.

In the role of City Secretary, you will work with business development issues and drive prioritized improvement work regarding case preparation, both within your own administration and overall within Region Gotland, together with the unit manager and employees in the City Secretariat. You will also conduct training for case handlers, managers, and other relevant parties.

Region Gotland offers you an independent and varied job where you are at the center of the case preparation process and political decision-making, where you become part of a larger whole, and where our mission contributes to making everyday life better for all residents of Gotland.

Who are you?

We see that you have a relevant university education, preferably in law or social sciences.

We consider it highly meritorious if you have previous experience in case preparation, administrative work, public access and secrecy legislation, Local Government Act, and Administrative Procedure Act. If you have previously worked in a regionally or municipally politically governed organization as well as with processes and case flows, this is meritorious.

As a person, we see that you are meticulous in your work, you easily see connections, and can switch between an overarching holistic perspective and detailed issues. You possess good administrative skills. We would appreciate that you have experience working with business development. You place great value in and feel great responsibility for your assignments, their implementation, and results.

Since you will work closely with elected officials and civil servants at different levels in Region Gotland, it is important that you enjoy creating good relationships and that you find it easy to collaborate with others.
