Do you want to work with finance where the numbers contribute to something bigger?

Visby Diocese is now looking for a business-oriented and meticulous accounting economist who wants to help develop our financial work.

About the job

As an accounting economist with us, you will become a qualified support for deaneries and parishes within Visby Diocese. You contribute to creating stable and long-term financial conditions that make a difference – both in people's daily lives and for future generations.

You are responsible for ongoing financial administration and work independently with the entire process from bookkeeping to annual accounts and reporting. Together with your colleagues, you develop and quality-assure financial routines and working methods.

Responsibilities

Your main responsibilities include:

  • preparing, following up on, and auditing budgets
  • responsible for ongoing bookkeeping, coding, reconciliations, and general ledger
  • performing monthly, quarterly, and annual closing
  • handling customer and supplier accounts as well as payments
  • producing financial reports for management and boards
  • following up and analyzing financial results, key figures, and profitability
  • preparing VAT, employer, and income tax returns
  • responsible for payroll administration, payroll processing, and reporting to authorities.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who has

  • post-secondary education in economics or accounting, or equivalent experience
  • several years of experience in similar tasks
  • good knowledge of bookkeeping, annual accounts, and tax returns
  • good familiarity with working in financial and payroll systems
  • valid driver's license (Category B)
  • shares the Church of Sweden's value base.
  • experience working within the Church of Sweden or another non-profit organization is meritorious.

At the same time, you work independently and take responsibility for your tasks. You are solution-oriented and enjoy developing routines and working methods. We also believe you have a pedagogical approach and like to explain financial matters in a clear and trustworthy manner.
