The County Administrative Board works on behalf of the government and strives to ensure that national goals are implemented in the county. Our broad operations cover environmental, nature, cultural heritage, business, urban planning, rural development, emergency preparedness, and total defense issues. In dialogue with other actors, we coordinate various interests and promote sustainable development on Gotland.
Over 150 people work here, and our head is County Governor Charlotte Petri Gornitzka.
Description
We are looking for you who, together with us, want to contribute to developing Gotland's cultural heritage, with a focus on ancient monuments and archaeology.

You will belong to the Unit for Social Development, where approximately twenty employees work within areas such as cultural heritage, urban planning, energy and climate, and social sustainability.
Job Responsibilities
The County Administrative Board is responsible for cultural heritage management in the county. Our assignment is multifaceted and rooted in many different legal provisions, regulations, and state goals, which is why the work is also cross-sectoral. We have the practical responsibility for the application of the Cultural Heritage Act in the county. The County Administrative Board ensures, among other things, that the Cultural Heritage Act is followed, examines permits, and provides advice and information regarding ancient monuments, churches, and listed buildings. We also work with grants for the care of particularly valuable ancient monuments, buildings, and cultural landscapes.
As a case handler for archaeology and ancient monument matters, you are offered stimulating work with significant personal responsibility and varied tasks. Here, you are given the opportunity to develop in your professional role and work with many of the county's ancient monument environments. The assignment includes both strategic and operational tasks.

The assignment includes:
- processing cases within cultural heritage and participating in the work to develop planning materials.
- investigating and examining permits, reviewing cases from an ancient monument perspective, and providing advice on ancient monuments and archaeology. The work includes some field work in the form of supervision and authority enforcement.
- contributing your competence in internal preparations and cross-sectoral issues at the authority.
- representing, collaborating, and participating in regional and national networks related to cultural heritage and ancient monument issues.
- contributing to other tasks at the authority, such as processing within emergency preparedness and energy issues.
Qualifications
We are looking for you who have good cooperation skills and thrive working both independently and in a group; you value teamwork highly. You are driven and structured in your work. You have an unpretentious approach towards others, are receptive, and service-oriented. You have good and clear communication skills and express yourself well both orally and in writing in Swedish and English. You have the ability to prioritize during periods of high tempo and can handle and deliver results. You are flexible and can handle changes within the organization and management. You are proactive and see opportunities for improvements and development of working methods in your tasks.

You who apply for the position must have:
- a degree at least at bachelor's level, preferably a master's degree with archaeology as the main subject or other education that the employer considers equivalent.
- work experience and current knowledge about archaeology and assessments of ancient monuments.
- good knowledge of cultural heritage legislation.
- a driver's license for passenger cars.
It is meritorious if you have:
- experience of case handling within public operations, e.g., county administrative board, municipality, or museum.
- experience in field archaeology, e.g., contract archaeology and field inventory.
- knowledge in maritime archaeology.
- competence in registration in Fornreg.
- experience working in GIS.
- knowledge and experience of working with the Planning and Building Act (PBL) and/or the Environmental Code.
Conditions
Since the position is placed in a security class, a security investigation and register check will be carried out upon employment.
