About the position

Various types of cytological samples are sent to our Cytology Laboratory, where they are prepared and stained for microscopic assessment. The results from these analyses are crucial for establishing the correct diagnosis and form the basis for choosing the most suitable treatment.

Here, you will become part of a team consisting of cytodiagnosticians, biomedical scientists, laboratory engineers, and laboratory assistants who together are responsible for the entire analysis process – from registration and sample preparation to diagnosis. You will also work in close collaboration with our cytologist physicians.

Your tasks as a biomedical scientist at the Cytology Laboratory include, among other things:

  • Handling, preparing, and staining cytological samples
  • Performing molecular laboratory analyses according to current methods, quality requirements, and routines
  • Working with laboratory equipment and contributing to the development and improvement of the laboratory's methods
  • Documenting analysis results and ensuring traceability according to current quality and documentation requirements
  • Participating in diagnostics when needed by performing differential counts of inflammatory cells and answering bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL) samples.

  • Are meticulous and have a good understanding of the importance of correct analyses and high quality in laboratory work
  • Are calm, attentive, and accommodating in your interactions. You thrive in team settings and find it easy to collaborate with colleagues in various professional roles throughout the analysis process
  • Are flexible and can adapt to changing tasks and new methods within laboratory operations, while taking responsibility for your work, planning, organizing, and prioritizing efficiently
  • Set and adhere to timeframes and contribute to solutions and efficient workflows in the laboratory.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Licensed biomedical scientist
  • Experience working in diagnostic laboratory operations
  • Experience working according to quality systems, standardized work methods, and current regulations within laboratory medicine
  • Fluency in Swedish, both spoken and written

Merits:

  • Experience working in cytology or pathology
  • Experience with immunocytochemical methods or molecular diagnostics
  • Experience with quality work, method development, and validation of laboratory methods
  • Experience working in an accredited laboratory operation according to relevant quality standards, ISO15189
  • Good knowledge of morphology.
