Your Mission

You will belong to the Cryptography Office under the Cyber Operations department. The mission of the Cryptography Office is to support signals intelligence and information security operations with cryptographic expertise. You will be part of a team working on developing and implementing mathematical and cryptographic methods to support the agency's intelligence production.

Your tasks will consist of analyzing crypto-implementations in software, so-called software reverse engineering, and helping to translate your results into deliverables. There may also be development of tools for software reverse engineering. Competence development in the area will be a natural part of the work.

Here you will have good opportunities to influence how the work is conducted in the team, as well as to take responsibility for specific areas as you grow into the role. Furthermore, collaboration with other parts of both the Cryptography Office and the Cyber Operations department is included.

You will join a creative environment with a diversity of expertise in cryptography, mathematics, and cybersecurity. The team leverages each other's ideas and actively helps each other to achieve results together. You will also become part of a larger context at the Cryptography Office with a strong collaborative culture and a flat hierarchy where we learn from and support each other in daily development.

What You Can Do

We are looking for you who have:

• An academic degree in cybersecurity, computer engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, or another area that the employer deems equivalent. Alternatively, you have acquired corresponding knowledge through work experience.
• Knowledge in software reverse engineering.
• Good skills in Swedish and English, both spoken and written.

Since you will come into contact with the following work areas, we consider it meritorious if you have competence in one or more of them:

• Operating systems such as Linux, Windows, and/or mobile OS (Android and iOS).
• Compilers, computer architectures, and their instruction sets (ISA).
• C/C++, Java, or other modern high-level languages such as Go, Swift, and Rust.
• Python.
• Cryptography.
• Mobile app development.
• Communication protocols or network forensics.

You will have good opportunities for competence development in the above areas in the role.

More Information

The workplace is located near Drottningholm, approx. 10 minutes from Brommaplan. Swedish citizenship is a requirement as employment at FRA involves placement in a security classification. Before employment, you will undergo a security clearance in accordance with the provisions of the Security Protection Act. Employment entails an obligation to be placed on war footing.
