NU Hospital is part of the Region of Västra Götaland and is one of Sweden's larger county hospitals. We are located at NÄL (Norra Älvsborg County Hospital) in Trollhättan and Uddevalla Hospital. About the Department

The Forensic Psychiatry unit at NU Hospital is located in fine, operation-adapted premises at Brinkåsen in Vänersborg. The Forensic Psychiatry unit at Brinkåsen consists of five care wards with different focuses based on psychiatric diagnosis. What all care wards have in common is that our patients have been sentenced to closed forensic psychiatric care.

Our mission is to improve the patient's mental health through care and treatment. Our goal is to make the patient more involved in their care. By individualizing care interventions, we increase the patient's conditions for gaining control over their illness and thereby preventing relapse into criminal activity.

The ward's focus is on neuropsychiatric disabilities, sometimes in combination with substance abuse and psychosis-like conditions. In addition to nursing staff, the facility has other competencies and professions that support our care processes with the aim of reaching our treatment goals.

Job Responsibilities

We work in care teams based on a contact person model grounded in evidence-based guidelines and care programs. As a nurse, you will have overall nursing responsibility within the care team and be responsible for various medical interventions.

Mentorship is part of your introduction process.

Qualifications

You have a Swedish license as a nurse with an interest in psychiatry. We work in teams and have continuous contact with relatives and fellow patients, placing great emphasis on personal suitability and ability to collaborate.

Clinical Base Year

As a newly graduated nurse, you will be part of NU Hospital's Clinical Base Year. The Clinical Base Year is an initiative to give newly graduated nurses a good start in working life. You will have better opportunities to develop in your profession and build a professional identity through introduction, seminar days, and professional guidance.

Interviews are conducted continuously throughout the application period.
