Do you want to take the next step in your career while contributing to a safer society? Do you have the right competence and ability to develop travel management at a time when a changing global situation places great demands on the Swedish Armed Forces? Then this could be a role for you!

The Swedish Armed Forces are currently in an expansion phase. In addition to a larger personnel, this growth also means a larger economy. With increased appropriations, greater demands are placed on our agency regarding efficiency, follow-up, and control, not least concerning how we travel. The Defence Staff at the Headquarters is now looking for you who want to help develop work within this area.

About the workplace

The Defence Staff supports the Supreme Commander in processing and preparing matters at the military strategic level, and ensures that decisions made by the agency's management are implemented, followed up, and reported back.

The Economics Department at the Defence Staff's Implementation Unit has overall responsibility for all economics in a growing operation. Here, approximately 35 employees with different competencies and special areas work, distributed across three sections where you will belong to the Personnel Controlling Section.

Currently, 8 people work on the section responsible for coordinating the Armed Forces' work with personnel economics, payroll control, and personal travel.

Your role

In the role of Travel Manager, you will belong to a cohesive team of 3 people who, together and in close cooperation with the Armed Forces' travel departments, the procurement unit, and other parts of the section, are responsible for the agency's regulations on how we travel and meet.

You are expected to develop the area in terms of methods, controls, and procedures, both independently and together with others, as well as follow up on operations and make well-founded assumptions about the future. You will provide qualified decision support for senior managers in questions at both strategic and tactical levels, and also serve as a coordinator for the Armed Forces' disbursement matters within the area.

In addition to cooperation with the travel departments and procurement, regular dialogue with managers and employees in the line organization, as well as with external actors, is a natural part of the role. This requires a broad network of contacts which you will create and maintain.

By lecturing, educating, and supporting the operations regarding personal and conscript travel, you contribute to the Armed Forces' organizational learning and create good conditions for the Armed Forces to conduct their operations in an efficient manner that is also transparent.

In order to meet the requirements and challenges placed on an organization in change, you need to have a flexible approach and a positive attitude towards competence development towards more tasks in different adjacent areas belonging to a higher staff.

Personal qualities

As a person, you are structured, careful, and responsible with the ability to deliver high quality even during periods of high workload. As a team player, you are self-reliant within your area of responsibility while enjoying cooperation and building trusting relationships. You have good analytical skills, can handle large amounts of information, and communicate relevant conclusions in a pedagogical way to different target groups. You see opportunities in complex issues, work solution-oriented, and are happy to share your knowledge. With a flexible approach, you take on new challenges and have a positive attitude towards competence development, even within other tasks at a higher staff level.
