The IT department of the County Administrative Boards is growing to meet the broad and varied IT needs of Sweden's 21 County Administrative Boards. We develop and maintain business-specific applications, provide daily IT support for employees, and offer e-services for citizens and businesses – contributing to a democratic, sustainable, and secure society.

Here, you might work with IT security, system development, business systems, support, automation, and integration. We also play a central role in the County Administrative Boards' position as the highest regional authority responsible for civil defense. About the Job

Do you want to lead application assignments that make a difference for society as a whole? Do you have a technical profile and are you driven by development? Are you skilled at communicating with business operations and thrive when managing multiple parallel assignments? Then you might be the Project Manager we are looking for for the IT Department of the County Administrative Boards.

As a Project Manager, you work with and take responsibility for assignments within the management objects and planned within the management plan. The business areas relevant for this position are primarily finance, payroll, and HR, but you will also be involved in other business areas.

You will:

  • plan, coordinate, and follow up on assignments
  • translate business needs into requirements
  • work on sprint planning
  • plan testing prior to deployment and work on coordinating deployment
  • participate in further developing working methods within objects and functions

You thrive in a role where you handle multiple assignments simultaneously and have close collaboration with your colleagues. You collaborate closely with management leads, system technicians, business operations, IT architects, and project managers.

You will have many contacts – both within the IT Department and with business operations, as well as in cooperation with suppliers and other authorities. In this role, you work on interesting assignments together with engaged and accessible colleagues. You are involved in many activities with the opportunity to contribute to improvements, and you see the entire assignment from start to deployment.

We are always developing our operations, so you need to be open to the possibility that your tasks may change over time.

The IT Department of the County Administrative Boards is located throughout the country. Location: Gothenburg, Mariestad, Vänersborg, Karlstad, or Luleå. We offer flexible work with good opportunities for remote work part of the time.

Travel within the country occurs.

About You

To succeed in this role, we are looking for someone with a structured approach, good ability to plan assignments, and keep track of many parallel tasks and activities. You drive your assignments with persistence towards the goals the team has set together. You are curious and eager to learn new things.

Since the role involves many contacts, you need to be good at collaborating and communicating. You have the ability to express yourself simply and clearly, both verbally and in writing.

As our colleagues are spread across many locations in Sweden, we work extensively with digital meetings, and you thrive in this virtual working environment.

Personal qualities are important to us, and it is natural for you to act according to the Swedish Government's Values – The Government Offices Agency, and contribute to a good work climate.

You have:

  • A relevant academic degree (e.g., Civil Engineer, Computer Scientist, Systems Scientist) or a post-secondary education in project or assignment management combined with practical experience in IT management.
  • Previous experience leading IT projects or assignments and are accustomed to driving work from idea to deployment.
  • Knowledge of and experience with different management models, such as PM³ or product-centric.
  • Practical experience with agile tools (e.g., Jira, Azure DevOps) and can adapt them to the team's needs.

We would like you to have:

  • Previous experience developing and implementing business systems and understanding how they support operations.
  • Insight into financial, HR, and payroll processes and the ability to translate these into IT requirements.
  • Experience in gathering, formulating, and prioritizing requirements in close collaboration with business operations.
  • Basic knowledge of how IT architecture is built and how different systems interact.
  • Experience working with information security.

The County Administrative Board is an emergency authority and has a specifically designated responsibility during crisis and war/high alert.

The salary level for the position is between 47,000 – 53,000 SEK per month.

The employment may begin with a probationary period of 6 months.
