Coordinator for HIV & STI Testing (75%) – RFSL Jämtland Härjedalen
RFSL JÄMTLAND HÄRJEDALENJämtlands län, Östersund
Previous experience is desired
Since April 2023, RFSL Jämtland Härjedalen has been running the Testpoint JH project to reduce the stigma around HIV and STIs in the region. We are now looking for a substitute coordinator during her leave. In this role, you will test our target group for HIV and STIs, offer counseling and support sessions, and deliver school lectures throughout the county.
RFSL Jämtland Härjedalen is an association for gay, bisexual, trans, queer, and intersex people in Jämtland and Härjedalen. The association's work includes social activities, information campaigns in schools, sexual health programs, and political advocacy. RFSL is an anti-racist and feminist organization.
Job Responsibilities
As part of the project, we run a testing clinic primarily targeting trans people and men who have sex with men (MSM). We offer anonymous, free HIV and STI testing with rapid results. The clinic is a safe, low-threshold service, independent of regular healthcare.
As coordinator, you will receive visitors at our premises in Östersund and around the county to assist with self-testing. Everyone who gets tested for HIV should be offered a counseling session with relevant information. The conversation should also be motivating and allow room for reflection. You will also recruit volunteers to conduct HIV testing and train them in the organization's routines.
The work will also involve spreading information about HIV and STIs to destigmatize these topics in Jämtland and Härjedalen, as well as informing about LGBTQI+ issues in general. This can be done through lectures and information dissemination in schools, for other organizations, and at events. A central part of our operations is building networks and collaborating with both existing and new organizations. It also includes competency development for staff and volunteers at other organizations regarding the subject.
It is important that you can grasp the overall goals of the project and plan, implement, and evaluate continuously, as well as work efficiently and foster good collaboration with your project colleague and others within the organization.
You are responsible for documenting your work and, upon completion of the employment, reporting your part of the project together with your colleague and employer.
The position is a 75% temporary contract until February, located at our premises in central Östersund where you will work closely with your colleague who works as a communicator in the project. Some remote work opportunities are available.
Requirements
• You have a university degree as a nurse or social worker, or other relevant experience
• You have competence regarding LGBTQI+ issues (primarily MSM/trans) and norm-critical perspectives, share RFSL's values, and are interested in human rights work.
• You have experience supporting people in crisis.
• You have experience or training in counseling support, e.g., Motivational Interviewing (MI).
• Valid driver's license category B.
Merits
• You have experience from non-profit organizations, associations and/or volunteer work.
• You have personal experiences of LGBTQI+ and/or an established network within the LGBTQI+ community in Jämtland Härjedalen.
• You have good knowledge of Sami language and culture and/or other languages and cultures.
RFSL Jämtland Härjedalen strives for our employees to reflect the diversity of identities and experiences within the LGBTQI+ group. We therefore welcome applicants who can contribute to a broader representation in the workgroup.
Employment Terms
75% temporary contract until February, start immediately.
Working hours may vary as the operations are goal-oriented and may include evenings and some weekends. Being present in Östersund is important, but some remote work is possible.
Interviews will be conducted continuously during the application period, and the position may be filled before the advertisement ends, so submit your application with CV and cover letter today!
At RFSL Jämtland Härjedalen, we have a collective agreement for non-profit and ideological organizations. 40-hour work week and wellness allowance.
