Since the beginning of 2025, Örebro Folk High School has been running FolkisUng, an ESF-funded project targeting young people who are neither in employment nor education or training (NEET). The project runs until 31 March 2027. Örebro Folk High School is now seeking a teacher for a fixed-term position at 80 % for the remaining duration.
The governing body of Örebro Folk High School (ÖF) is an association comprising three member churches: Evangelical Free Church (EFK), Filadelfia Church Örebro, and Immanuel's Church Örebro. The school operates from two locations: Vivalla and Götabro. ÖF has approximately 200 full-time students on its folk high school courses. All activities at the school are guided by the following approach:
”We start from a Christian holistic view of the human being. We embrace diversity and work for everyone’s participation. Our participants should be given the opportunity to grow, mature, and reflect on life. Together, we aim to create a warm and open learning environment where participants are seen, heard, respected, and included.”
FolkisUng is an ESF project run by seven folk high schools in Sweden. The overarching goal is to help young people aged 16–29 move closer to studies or employment. Each participant receives an activity plan tailored to their individual needs. The activities within FolkisUng fall into four main areas: the path to education, the path to work, mental health and well-being, and social support and networking.
Job Description
Regular teaching with considerable flexibility, combined with mentoring. Within the FolkisUng project, you will work closely with sub-project leaders, school counsellors (SYV), student welfare officers, and supervisors to support participants in moving towards education or employment. Each participant has an individual activity plan based on their prerequisites and current level.
Your Qualifications
For the teaching position, you are expected to hold relevant subject qualifications and have experience teaching subjects such as Swedish/Swedish as a second language, English, mathematics, and/or social studies. You should possess a relational and supportive approach in the classroom.
Additional Merits
Experience from folk high schools/adult education and its target group, as well as adult education (folkbildning) and its pedagogical methods. Experience working with the NEET target group/students with high school absenteeism is also considered an advantage.
Personal Attributes
You are empathetic, skilled at creating safety and engagement in a classroom setting, and comfortable communicating with diverse groups of people. You are proactive, work well in teams, and inspire commitment within the group.
