Do you want to help create the best conditions for an equal education? At the National Agency for Special Needs Education and Schools (SPSM), we work to ensure that all children, students, and adult learners with disabilities reach their educational goals. We run our own special schools in various locations across Sweden. We also provide support to preschools and schools nationwide to create learning environments that are developmental and accessible. Additionally, we distribute state grants and develop teaching materials.

All students have the right to a school that gives them the opportunity to develop based on their own prerequisites. SPSM runs schools on behalf of the state. We offer students a learning environment that provides opportunities for participation, learning, and development. We offer meaningful, stimulating, and important pedagogical work at our schools.

About Ekeskolan

Ekeskolan is located in Örebro and teaches students with visual impairments and additional disabilities from preschool class through grade 10. The teaching aims to provide good conditions for students' development and learning, as well as improved knowledge results. Our staff works extensively with form and sensory perception for all senses. We offer housing for students who cannot commute to school every day.

Ekeskolan is part of the National Agency for Special Needs Education and Schools and offers education adapted to each student's prerequisites for students with visual impairments combined with additional disabilities. Ekeskolan is a national special school, which means we have students from all over Sweden.

Job Responsibilities

We are currently looking for a student assistant for Ekeskolan in Örebro. 1 position(s).

Your primary task is to provide students with security and support during the school day. We offer you an exciting job where the students are at the center of focus. We work extensively with various types of communication and place great emphasis on language-developing work in all school activities. As a student assistant in our operations, you work for the benefit of the entire student group. The student assistant's area of responsibility is to support the students' development in close collaboration and dialogue with the educators. You contribute to creating a safe learning environment based on mutual respect and cooperation.

As a student assistant, you should be a support so that all students have the same conditions to develop and keep up with the teaching.

  • In close cooperation with the school management, educators, and other student assistants in the student group, you participate in the planning of the work.
  • You have an active role in school work and the care of students during the school day. You are also expected to participate in activities such as swimming, student trips, etc.
  • Your duties may also include working at the school's after-school center or student housing in the mornings.

The employment is a specific fixed-term appointment at 10%.

Qualifications and Merits

We are looking for you who have:

  • Secondary school competence (e.g., Child and Youth Program, Care and Nursing Program with a focus on disabilities, or other education deemed suitable by the employer).
  • Basic knowledge of child development and various disabilities.
  • Basic computer skills.

Your ability to express yourself well in speech and writing in Swedish constitutes an important part of the students' education.

It is meritorious if you have:

  • Knowledge of low-affective handling.
  • Knowledge of visual impairment and guiding.
  • Knowledge of neuropsychiatric disabilities.
  • Knowledge of ICDP (International Child Development Programme), guided interaction.
  • Knowledge of alternative communication methods such as visual aids, tactile support, and PECS/TAKK.
  • Knowledge of medical care.
  • Knowledge of physical disabilities.

Personal Qualities

As a student assistant at Ekeskolan, you are expected to be involved in the planning, implementation, and development of the operations. Social interaction and communication are important in our work. This requires that you are flexible and have good cooperation skills with your colleagues, management, guardians, and school staff. We value qualities such as being secure, stable, reliable, and responsive, as well as having the ability to see small progress.

We place great emphasis on personal suitability.

Employment Terms

  • Employment Type: Fixed-term employment.
  • Duration: 6 months or longer.
  • Start Date: 2026-08-17 or by agreement.
  • End Date: 2027-06-11.
