Case Officer with a focus on Honor-Based Violence and Oppression
The goal of gender equality work in Sweden is for women and men to have the same power and opportunities to shape society and their own lives. The work covers issues such as influence, economy, health, education, work, and bodily integrity.
The Swedish National Council for Gender Equality (Jämställdhetsmyndigheten) is responsible for ensuring that the government's gender equality policy gains traction by contributing to the effective implementation of gender equality policies. The agency's task is to coordinate, monitor, and provide support in various ways within the areas of gender equality. The Swedish National Council for Gender Equality is an LGBTQIA+ strategic agency, meaning that the agency must promote the equal rights and opportunities of LGBTQIA+ persons in its operations.
As of January 1, 2026, the Swedish National Council for Gender Equality took over the national responsibility for work against honor-based violence and oppression (NCH), which previously lay with the County Administrative Board of Östergötland. Currently, work is underway to build a new operation within the agency, where we are creating a long-term and sustainable structure and organization for the area.
We are now looking for a Case Officer with a focus on honor-based violence and oppression for a fixed-term substitute position.
Job Responsibilities
As a Case Officer, you will contribute to the agency's work against honor-based violence and oppression, in line with the agency's instructions, regulatory letters, and current government assignments. You will collect and structure materials, providing administrative and pedagogical support in training and knowledge dissemination. The work involves both independent tasks and teamwork. In connection with the Swedish National Council for Gender Equality taking over the national responsibility for work against honor-based violence and oppression, you will be part of a construction and development phase where structures, methods, and collaborations are still being formed. The role suits you if you want to grow within the field and require you to be flexible, solution-oriented, and comfortable working in an environment where not all prerequisites are fully established from the start.
Main job responsibilities:
- Compile and process materials for further analysis work within honor-based violence and oppression, as well as adjacent areas such as men's violence against women, intimate partner violence, and violence against children and young people.
- Collect and process material for analyses, reports, and methodological support.
- Provide administrative and pedagogical support during training, workshops, network meetings, and conferences.
- Participate in the development and dissemination of support materials for professionals.
- Support project management with planning, documentation, follow-up, and logistics.
- Monitor research, reports, and statistics within the area of honor-based violence and oppression as well as violence against children and young people.
Qualifications
To be considered for the position, you must meet the following requirements:
- An academic degree in a social science field or education that the employer deems relevant for the position.
- Some experience in investigative work, preferably in relevant subject areas, such as intimate partner violence, honor-based violence and oppression, or child vulnerability, for example through studies, internships, or employment.
- Good administrative skills.
- Good ability to express yourself well in speech and writing in both Swedish and English.
- Basic knowledge of the area of honor-based violence and oppression, its target groups, and preventive work.
We consider the following to be meritorious
- Experience from the public sector, preferably within a state agency with assignments related to violence, oppression, or protection of vulnerable groups.
- Experience in case management or agency administration in issues related to violence and vulnerability, for example within social services, LSS (Act for Support and Service for Persons with Certain Functional Impairments), healthcare, police, or schools.
- Experience working with victims of violence, for example in social services, schools, leisure activities, sports movements, or civil society.
- Knowledge of violence against children and young people, men's violence against women, intimate partner violence, or other adjacent areas.
- Good knowledge of Swedish gender equality policy.
- Language skills in a language other than Swedish and English.
Meritorious means that it is an advantage if you meet the following requirements, but they are not mandatory to be considered for the position.
We place great emphasis on personal suitability
At the Swedish National Council for Gender Equality, we work in functional cross-departmental teams and process groups where, as an employee, you are responsible for your parts of the work. Therefore, it is important that you, as an employee, have the ability to work in a structured and careful manner, while also being able to drive tasks forward and complete them in dialogue with your manager and colleagues. You collaborate well with others and seek solutions together. You can communicate in a pedagogical and clear manner in speech and writing. You are learning-oriented and curious, take initiative, and seek feedback to develop in the role.
Employment Information
The position is a fixed-term employment (substitute) on a full-time basis until August 31, 2027, located at the Swedish National Council for Gender Equality's office in central Gothenburg. Start date September 1 or as soon as possible/according to agreement. Travel within the scope of the work may occur.
The agency offers several benefits focusing on health and a sustainable working life for all ages, for example, some possibility to work remotely, fitness hours, and a fitness allowance.
