Investigator specializing in Honor-Based Violence and Oppression

The goal of gender equality work in Sweden is for women and men to have equal power and opportunities to shape society and their own lives. The work covers issues such as influence, economy, health, education, work, and bodily integrity.

The Swedish National Council for Gender Equality (Jämställdhetsmyndigheten) is responsible for ensuring that the government's gender equality policy gains traction by contributing to the effective implementation of gender equality policies. The Agency's task is to coordinate, monitor, and provide support in various ways within the fields of gender equality. We are an LGBTQIA+ strategic agency, which means that the Agency, in its operations, must promote the equal rights and opportunities of LGBTQIA+ individuals.

We are now looking for an Investigator specializing in Honor-Based Violence and Oppression.

Job Responsibilities

As an Investigator, you will work broadly with issues related to honor-based violence and oppression, in line with the Agency's instructions, regulatory letters, and current government assignments. You will contribute knowledge both internally and externally through reports, methodological support, and dialogue with other actors.

As we take over national responsibility for the work against honor-based violence and oppression, you will be part of a construction and development phase where structures, working methods, and collaborations are still being formed. This requires you to be flexible, solution-oriented, and comfortable working in an environment where not all prerequisites are fully established from the start.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Conduct in-depth analyses within the field of honor-based violence and oppression, as well as adjacent areas such as men's violence against women, intimate partner violence, and violence against children and young people.
  • Participate in the design and implementation of the Agency's interventions, such as developing knowledge bases, methodological support, and other types of support materials.
  • Develop, disseminate, and evaluate support materials for professionals.
  • Represent the Agency in collaboration forums and networks with other agencies, municipalities, regions, and civil society organizations.
  • Facilitate dialogue with external actors and contribute to national and regional collaboration.
  • Plan and lead meetings, workshops, and larger gatherings, such as network meetings, agency dialogues, or conferences.
  • Actively participate in the planning, implementation, and follow-up of projects and assignments.
  • Compile and write reports, analyses, remiss responses, government assignments, and other knowledge products.
  • Monitor the external environment regarding research, reports, and statistics, and apply this knowledge to the Agency's work.

Qualifications

To be considered for the position, you must meet the following requirements:

  • An academic degree within a social science field or education that the employer deems relevant for the position.
  • Several years of documented experience working in the field of honor-based violence and oppression or adjacent areas such as men's violence against women, intimate partner violence, or violence against children and young people.
  • Experience in qualified analysis and investigative work, such as producing reports, methodological support, or materials for government assignments.
  • Experience in independently leading project-oriented work and managing complex processes towards set goals and within given timeframes at a strategic level.
  • Experience in collaboration and dialogue with external actors such as agencies, municipalities, regions, and civil society organizations.
  • Experience in writing texts for different target groups, such as reports, remiss responses, or support materials.
  • Good knowledge of the areas of men's violence against women and intimate partner violence.
  • Good ability to express yourself well in speech and writing in both Swedish and English.
  • Good knowledge of Swedish gender equality policy.

Qualifications we consider advantageous

  • Experience working for a government agency within the justice system or another agency with assignments related to violence, oppression, or the protection of vulnerable groups.
  • Experience in exercising authority in cases related to men's violence against women, intimate partner violence, or honor-based violence and oppression, for example within the police, social services, LSS (Act for Support and Service for Persons with Certain Functional Impairments), healthcare, or schools.
  • Experience working strategically with the development of methods, policy documents, or policies in the areas of honor-based violence and oppression, men's violence against women, or violence against children and young people.
  • Experience working in the field of honor-based violence and oppression from civil society, academia, or other operations.
  • Experience in violence prevention work at a universal level.
  • Experience representing an organization in national contexts.
  • Language skills in languages other than Swedish and English.

Advantageous qualifications mean that it is an advantage if you meet the following requirements, but they are not mandatory to be considered for the position.

We place great emphasis on personal suitability

As a person, you are analytical and have the ability to handle complex issues in a changing context. You are pedagogical and clear in your communication, both orally and in writing. You work in a structured and independent manner, take responsibility for driving the work forward, and adapt easily when prerequisites change. You have excellent collaboration skills but also the ability to lead and complete assignments independently.

Employment Information

The position is a permanent full-time employment, and we apply a six-month probation period. Start date by agreement. The position is located at our office in central Gothenburg. Travel for work purposes may occur.

The Agency offers several benefits focusing on health and a sustainable working life for all ages, such as the possibility to work remotely, fitness allowance, and health care benefits.
