The Swedish National Heritage Board is Sweden's authority for cultural heritage issues. We work to preserve, utilize, and develop cultural environments, cultural landscapes, cultural artifacts, and museums. Our mandate is guided by the government's goals for cultural policy and state cultural heritage work. Our operations are located in Visby, Stockholm, and Tumba, and we also conduct public activities at the visitor site Glimmingehus. We have approximately 250 employees.
The Swedish National Heritage Board's archives are a research archive with extensive collections dating back to the 17th century and onwards. In addition to the authority's archives, it houses donated private archives concerning the cultural heritage and cultural environment sector, as well as large image collections. The archive's task is to manage, develop, and make information accessible so that it creates value for users. The archive shares an office and reading room with the authority's library. The archive has 13 permanent staff members, and we are located together with the Swedish National Heritage Board's library in beautiful, historically interesting premises on Östermalm in central Stockholm.
We are now looking for a substitute archivist who wants to join and strengthen the unit in the work with case processing and research service.
Your Responsibilities
As an archivist with us, you work together with colleagues in the unit's case processing. The work also includes reviewing and assessing topographically organized documents based on current secrecy legislation, as well as organizing and registering drawings in the Swedish National Heritage Board's official archive.
Your Qualifications
We are looking for you who have:
- an academic degree focused on archival science of at least 60 credits, or other education that we consider equivalent
- studies in one or more relevant subjects, such as archaeology, history, cultural geography, ethnology, or art history
- experience in case processing or research service
- experience working as an archivist, preferably within public cultural historical archives
It is meritorious if you have
- experience in organizing and registering drawings
- experience in reviewing and assessing secrecy in cases
To succeed in the role, you are structured and quality-conscious. You work independently, have good collaboration skills, and can adapt to changing needs in the operations.
Other Information
The position is a temporary assignment until 2026-12-31, and we want you to start as soon as possible. The position is located in Stockholm, with an opportunity for remote work up to 50 %.
Please submit your application by August 12, 2026, including a CV and cover letter. Mark your application with the case number RAÄ-2026-2311. We only accept applications through our recruitment system.
