Chef Wanted at Kollektivkrogen Hopkoket in Mölndal

We are now looking for a chef who wants to help build something different. Something genuine. Something owned and run by people with a shared love for food, drink, and community.

Hopkoket is a unique collective-owned concept where approximately 70 members jointly own and operate both the restaurant and the cheese shop. Here, people's engagement meets professional restaurant and retail expertise to create a vibrant meeting place in Mölndal.

About Hopkoket

Together with you, we are building a bistro with clear inspiration from French cuisine, without locking ourselves into traditions or national borders. We gladly draw influences from other food cultures, experiment with new ideas, and let seasonal ingredients lead the way.

Our ambition is to be a neighborhood bistro with high quality in both food and drink. We want to offer a warm, relaxed, and personal experience where guests feel at home while receiving something beyond the ordinary.

The operations consist of:

  • A bistro focused on quality, ingredients, and joy of cooking
  • Catering for companies and private gatherings
  • Events, themed evenings, and other culinary experiences
  • A cheese shop that interacts with the restaurant through ingredients and flavor pairings

The cheese shop and the restaurant operate in the same premises and complement each other. During the day, the space is a well-established cheese shop, and in the evening, it transforms into a lively bistro.

There are two closely collaborating work teams in the operation:

  • A team of employed staff who run and develop the cheese shop.
  • The collective bistro, where members, together with kitchen professionals, create the restaurant experience.

About the Role

This is not a traditional chef job.

As a chef at Hopkoket, you will be the person in the restaurant with the greatest restaurant and kitchen expertise. Service, bar, and dishwashing are staffed by members of the collective who work voluntarily alongside their regular professions.

This means you will have an important role in creating structure, security, and quality in the operation. You need to enjoy supporting, guiding, and collaborating with people who might be doctors, engineers, teachers, entrepreneurs, or office workers by day – but who are united by their interest in food, drink, and human connection.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and present food with high quality and care
  • Contribute to the development of menus and new dishes
  • Ensure that the kitchen's work maintains high quality and good structure
  • Participate in catering assignments and events
  • Work with seasonally adapted ingredients
  • Collaborate with the cheese shop to create inspiring flavor pairings
  • Support and collaborate with members working in the restaurant
  • Ensure good hygiene, kitchen economy, and order in the operation
