About the Job
The position involves collecting, analyzing, and interpreting life cycle assessment (LCA) data for fish farmed in hydropower reservoirs in northern Sweden, as well as the subsequent supply chain stages required for the fish to reach the consumer, such as fish processing and trade. Currently, less than 10,000 tons of fish are farmed in Sweden. As part of this role, a second study will be conducted to perform an LCA on incorporating scaled-up quantities of fish, approximately 100,000 tons, into the Swedish diet, to test the effects of different dietary shifts. This work is part of the research project "Fish Farming in the North" (Fiskodling i Norr), which aims to investigate whether and how Arctic char and rainbow trout can be farmed sustainably in existing hydropower reservoirs in the inland of Norrland from biological, ecological, social, and economic perspectives. The work is carried out in close collaboration with SLU Umeå and external project partners, which may involve travel.
The role also includes contributing to scientific publications and the communication of research results.

Great emphasis is placed on personal qualities, such as teamwork skills, analytical and problem-solving abilities, and the capacity for independent work.
About Us
At the Department of Energy and Technology, research and education focus on how agriculture can contribute to a sustainable society. We have extensive expertise in systems for sustainable production of food and bioenergy, including optimal nutrient cycles and logistics systems. Within the methodological area, we have strong competence in system analysis, including environmental system analysis and LCA, as well as biometrics (statistics and mathematics with applications in biological systems). In research related to sustainable food production, we conduct quantitative studies on the environmental impact of various foods and diets, model future scenarios for more sustainable diets, and develop basis for informative and financial steering instruments for a more sustainable diet.
