PTP Psychologist at Strängnäs Health Centre and PTP Programme, Region Sörmland

Strängnäs Health Centre

About Us

Since 2016, Region Sörmland has offered a highly regarded PTP (Psychologist Training Programme). You will have your main placement and supervisor within one unit, while gaining insight and knowledge of other units through study visits and opportunities for observation (auscultation). Together with other PTP psychologists, you will participate in an introductory day, followed by regular seminars, lectures, and a 5-day assessment training course. The Study Director is responsible for the structure and ongoing evaluation of the PTP programme and is available for discussions, advice, and support.

The three main towns of Region Sörmland are Eskilstuna, Nyköping, and Katrineholm, with clinics also located in smaller communities. The current PTP position is based at Strängnäs Health Centre, approximately a 1-hour commute from Stockholm. Training days for the PTP programme are held in various locations, and you must be able to travel to a location other than your workplace on these days.

Strängnäs Health Centre

The psychosocial team at Strängnäs Health Centre consists of 3 psychologists, 1 psychotherapist, and 2 social secretaries (counselors). There is close collaboration with other professional categories at the health centre. Here, you will work with individuals experiencing mild to moderate mental health issues. Following an initial assessment, you will provide psychological counseling and treatment, both individually and in groups. You will receive strong support from your supervisor and the rest of the team. Time and tasks for other psychological work are available and will be shaped in collaboration with your supervisor.

Your Responsibilities

The position involves working in a cross-professional environment where you, as a psychologist, play a central role. In addition to individual-focused work such as psychological treatment and assessments, the following duties may also be included:

  • Consultative work and, in some units, supervision of staff groups.
  • Development of operations and methods.
  • Support, advice, and knowledge dissemination.
  • Collaboration with both external and internal stakeholders.

Your Qualifications

We are looking for you who hold a degree in Psychology. You should be curious about new knowledge, willing to actively work on developing your professional skills, and eager to grow in your professional role. Experience working in healthcare and social care is desirable.

You must be able to work independently. Since teamwork is a crucial part of all operations, you should also be willing and able to collaborate with others. You should have good verbal and written communication skills. Knowledge of multiple languages is an asset. We welcome applicants from different cultures and backgrounds. A Class B driver's license is required for some positions.

We would appreciate it if you are interested in working within Region Sörmland in the future and have a connection to the local area. The Region's STP Study Director is available as a resource if you have thoughts regarding specialization in the future. This recruitment follows the region's competency model for hiring. We place great emphasis on personal qualities.
