Through Sunet, the Swedish Research Council works to deliver IT services and infrastructure services to the higher education sector. Our customers are primarily universities and colleges, but also larger research infrastructures and certain government agencies.
Sunet operates the world's most modern research network and world-class digital identity services. Since the 1980s, we have delivered IT services and networks to Sweden's universities, colleges, and research infrastructures. As an employee of the Swedish Research Council, you are part of a global community of IT professionals working to support research and the development of the internet worldwide. We are now looking for a Systems Specialist who can contribute with qualified support and project involvement. The position is located within the Platform Operations and Operational Security unit.
Role Description and Responsibilities
Our unit currently consists of 11 employees. We are humble and help each other while maintaining high standards – both for ourselves and for each other. We always strive to be the best, which is why continuous development and education are important to us.
The responsibilities can be divided into two main parts:
- Operations, administration, and security of Linux systems, along with advanced troubleshooting.
- Packaging and automation using Puppet, Kubernetes, Docker, and Ansible.
For example, you will work with services such as eduID, eduSign, and Sunet Drive.
The role also includes on-call duties.
Who are you?

You have a strong interest in technology, keep up with developments, and wish to develop continuously through more knowledge and certifications. You can create structure in your work and prioritize based on your tasks. We place great emphasis on personal suitability and the ability to learn new things.
You should have
- Good knowledge of Linux.
- Experience with Linux administration, distribution, and packaging.
- Good ability to communicate orally and in writing in Swedish and English.
- Good ability to work in a team and experience communicating with customers.
It is an advantage if you have
- A technical degree from a university or college.
- Experience/knowledge in Python.
- Experience/knowledge of Nextcloud.
- Knowledge of operations automation, for example with Ansible or Puppet.
Location
Our office is located at Tulegatan 11 in central Stockholm. If the tasks allow, there is an opportunity to work part-time remotely.
Employment Type and Start Date
We offer a permanent full-time position with a 6-month probationary period. We would like you to start as soon as possible, taking into account any notice period.
