The Swedish National Board of Institutional Care (SiS) is an authority responsible for individually adapted compulsory care for young people with complex psychosocial issues and for adults with substance abuse problems. SiS also carries out closed youth care. We do this in youth homes and homes for adults with substance abuse issues across the country. Working at SiS makes your professional life an exciting challenge. Regardless of where you work in our organization or what position you hold, you help create life-changing change.
SiS Youth Home Johannisberg operates in Kalix and Boden (unit Sävastgården).
Job Description
SiS Youth Home Johannisberg in Sävast is seeking treatment assistants for temporary hourly positions who want to support change in a young person's life.
SiS Youth Home Johannisberg in Sävast serves school-aged girls with psychosocial issues, substance abuse, and criminality, placed according to the Care of Young Persons Act. All work is permeated by our key words: Respect, Care, and Clarity. Even as a temporary hourly worker, you are offered a thorough introduction with supervision and further education in areas such as safety, prohibited influence, conflict management, CPR, and more.
As a treatment assistant, you work in a team on the ward together with competent colleagues who are waiting for you to become part of the team. The daily work involves building safe relationships and motivating our young people towards new and less risky ways of living. You play a vital role in the stability of our young people and form the basis of daily life with school attendance, activities, cooking, and cleaning. As a treatment assistant, you also contribute to maintaining safety on the institution according to our guidelines and routines.
As a temporary hourly worker, you work when needs arise. You make yourself available in our staffing system, Netwic, and are booked based on your availability. In this way, you create the flexibility you need between work and leisure. The shifts you can make yourself available for vary from day, evening, weekend, and night shifts. Working as a temporary hourly worker with us gives you, as a student studying social pedagogy or other post-secondary education with a focus on sociology, psychology, or pedagogy, valuable experiences and knowledge for your future career. We therefore encourage you, as a student, to take the chance and send us your application!
Greetings from your future colleagues:
"Welcome to join us. Here at Johannisberg, you are met by fantastic colleagues who all work together to make a difference in the young people's lives both here and now and for the future. As a treatment assistant, I have the opportunity to learn new things every day, both in meetings with the young people and with society in general. There is a sense of security in that we always work in pairs, thereby building a strong community in the work group and on the wards."
Qualifications
We are looking for you who have the ability to build trusting relationships with our young people. You have a positive view of humanity and your driving force is to work with young people. You share our ethical guidelines (https://www.stat-inst.se/var-verksamhet/riktlinje-for-etik/) on being a place for change. As a person, you relate to people in a listening and flexible manner, while also being able to set boundaries and follow decisions made. You are secure, stable, and have the ability to maintain a professional attitude even in pressured situations. You work well with others and are happy to share your knowledge with colleagues.
You must also have:
- At least a 2-year post-secondary education from a folk high school or university college (KY/YH) or other education equivalent to this. The education should be focused on social work, social pedagogy, behavioral science, or another relevant subject area.*
- Good Swedish language skills in speech and writing
- Good physical fitness
- Category B driver's license
*Exceptions to the requirement of at least two years of post-secondary education may be made in individual cases if there are special reasons according to Chapter 5, Section 4 of the Social Services Ordinance (2025:468). To make an exception from the two-year post-secondary education requirement, a minimum of a high school diploma combined with relevant work experience is required. Please attach high school grades and/or certificates for post-secondary education to your application. Grades/certificates issued in another country must be translated and validated in Sweden via the Swedish Council for Higher Education (UHR).
