Testing Engineer at Outokumpu in Degerfors

We at Outokumpu in Degerfors are now looking for a driven and meticulous quality leader who wants to ensure that our stainless steel maintains the highest quality. About the role

As a Testing Engineer, you will function as the quality leader in our testing laboratory, where we test our products regarding corrosion resistance, mechanical, and metallurgical properties. You are responsible for ensuring that our processes follow current standards and requirements according to ISO 17025, STAFS regulations, and other governing methods.

The role involves the opportunity to take overall responsibility for, for example, internal and external audits, meaning you lead, conduct, and follow up on these processes.

In close collaboration with the lab manager and your colleagues, you lead and participate in work related to continuous improvement, working environment, and safety in the laboratory. You also serve as the deputy lab manager and take operational responsibility when the regular manager is not present.

Examples of tasks

  • Participate in Outokumpu's working environment and safety work
  • Ensure and further develop accreditation according to ISO 17025
  • Work with method development and improvement of testing routines
  • Lead internal and external audits
  • Handle deviations and customer complaints
  • Drive and participate in improvement projects within quality and safety

Who are you?

To thrive and succeed in the role, we believe you have a post-secondary engineering education in materials technology, testing technology, metallurgy, or equivalent. If you have previously worked as a testing technician or similar, this could be the next step in your career.

It is an advantage if you have experience with:

  • Work in accredited operations (ISO 17025)
  • Quality assurance and improvement work within industry
  • Working environment and safety issues

We are looking for someone who:

  • Thrives in collaborating with people in different functions and contributes to achieving common goals
  • Is meticulous, analytical, and customer-focused
  • Has good IT skills and an interest in technical systems
  • Has a genuine interest in metallurgical processes and industrial production
  • Fluently speaks and writes Swedish and English.
