Ersängsskolan is located in Östra Ersboda and is a multicultural F-9 school (grades 1-9) divided into several smaller schools. There are a total of over 400 students at the school. Here you will also find adapted primary school focusing on subject areas, as well as resource classes for the entire municipality. We have one of Sweden's best school libraries, and nearby there are football fields and an adventure playground. Our dedicated educators focus on a language-developing approach with the goal that everyone will meet the knowledge requirements. Ersängsskolan is one of Umeå Municipality's practice schools, which means that teacher students are hosted there for their practice-based education (VFU) during the academic year.

We are now looking for a social pedagogue for the operational team!

Your responsibilities

As a social pedagogue with us, you will be among the students during school hours and after school at Ersängsskolan. Your mission is to:

• Be present and build relationships with students and staff.
• Identify and implement early interventions against norm-breaking behavior.
• Participate in meetings with guardians.
• Hold thematic training/information for groups of students, focusing on e.g., values-based work or increasing trust in society's support functions, social services, police, etc.
• Act as social and emotional support for individual students and groups; support e.g., getting to school.
• Facilitate dialogue between guardians and the school.
• Collaborate with other professions to facilitate things for students and guardians.
• Work to channel students into various after-school activities.

About you

We are looking for you who have relevant education in psychosocial work; you might be, for example, a trained social pedagogue. You have many years of experience working in schools with students whose native language is not Swedish. You also have experience working with students in after-school activities.

To succeed in the role, you need to be a flexible and stable person who enjoys working with both children and adults in a school environment. You build good relationships with students and have strong empathetic abilities. You find it easy to collaborate and communicate with colleagues, guardians, and other partners. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.

Good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written, is required for the position, in order to communicate with students, guardians, and colleagues.
