The disability care services in Umeå Municipality aim to be a resource that empowers and strengthens people's ability to live independent lives through proximity and interaction.

Älvans väg is located in Tomtebo, Umeå. Five residents with various disabilities live at this residence. The residents live in their own apartments within the facility and share communal areas. The work involves promoting and striving towards the residents' independence on a daily basis, while being helpful in their daily lives. The role includes care work as well as routine household chores such as cleaning and cooking. There are no fur-bearing animals on the premises, and smoking is not permitted.

We are now looking for a new support assistant to join our team!

Your responsibilities

You guide and support individuals with physical, mental, and intellectual disabilities in their daily lives. You work to make the individual an active part of their daily routine and create conditions for a meaningful leisure time and/or employment. The role includes hygiene and care work, heavy lifting and transfers, as well as routine household chores such as cleaning, laundry, and cooking. Your approach is characterized by flexibility, continuity, and security. You offer individual, social, and practical support to strengthen the person's own abilities and promote independence.

In your role, you will plan, implement, document, follow up, and evaluate interventions both independently and in collaboration with others. You are also expected to contribute to creating and maintaining a clear structure in the operations.

Our operations are characterized by active development work, and we are looking for you who enjoy contributing to change, quality, and continuous improvements. Working hours are scheduled during the day/evening and weekends. Joint planning with other operations occurs.

Heavy lifting occurs; transfer aids must be used.

About you

You have good cooperation skills and a professional attitude towards residents, relatives, and other actors around our residents. You are pedagogical, engaged, and have a desire to share our values and work towards set goals as well as working with continuous improvements. Being solution-focused, curious, positive, and proactive is an important part of the job and the good work environment. It is sometimes a stressful job, so your ability to handle this is important. Personal suitability is highly valued.

To communicate with residents, colleagues, and other networks, write and review care documentation, and obtain medication delegation, you must have good knowledge of the Swedish language in both speech and writing.

Requirements

  • Healthcare and Social Care Programme, Child and Youth Programme, Social Work Programme, or other education deemed equivalent by the employer.
  • Experience working with people with disabilities or other work experience deemed equivalent.

Merits

  • Education in the fields of autism, pedagogy, or threats and violence.
  • Experience with low-affective handling (LAB) of aggressive behavior and motivational interviewing (MI).
