About the position

The Medical Unit for Social Work in Health Care is part of Health Professions within the Women's Health and Health Professions theme. The unit is responsible for social interventions, psychosocial treatment, and support for relatives in collaboration with the hospital's various departments and external actors.

We are now looking for a counselor for our counseling group within the Child Care Solna department with a focus on oncology. The role involves working with crisis, social, and psychosocial investigation, assessment, and treatment work from a holistic view of the human being.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Crisis and support conversations with patients and relatives
• Work in medical teams where the counselor is expected to contribute actively
• Advice on social issues
• Contact with authorities
• Collaboration with other healthcare providers and voluntary organizations
• Supervision of social work students

The position is a full-time temporary assignment from 2026-09-01 to 2027-03-31, located in Solna.

• Have personal maturity and the ability to meet patients and relatives in difficult situations in a professional and secure manner
• Collaborate well with others and contribute to good relationships within multidisciplinary teams
• Have a holistic view and see the patient's and relatives' needs from a contextual perspective
• Work systematically and can plan, organize, and prioritize work effectively
• Are flexible and adapt easily to changed needs and situations in the organization

Qualifications

Requirements:

• Degree in Social Work (Social worker)
• Good knowledge of Swedish in speech and writing

Merits:

• Licensure as a health care counselor with eligibility to work in Sweden
• Experience in counseling work within health care
• Experience working with seriously ill patients and their relatives
