Do you have CAD experience and want to combine design with practical production support? We are looking for a driven Mechanical Engineer for an exciting, security-cleared assignment in Karlskrona, where precision and initiative are highly valued.
About the role
This is a consultancy assignment, meaning you will be employed by Academic Work and work on-site for our client in Karlskrona. The position is full-time on-site at the client's premises, starting 2026-10-01 and initially extending to March 2027, with good prospects for extension.
In the role of Mechanical Engineer, you will enjoy a broad and varied daily routine in a high-tech environment. The role demands high standards of precision, structure, and control over your deliverables.
As the assignment is security-classified, Swedish citizenship and a passed security clearance are required before starting.
Responsibilities
You will work with a mix of ongoing support, administration, and pure development. Your main tasks include:
- Provide production support: Act as technical support for production and quickly resolve issues related to drawings and design.
- Manage change control: Update, correct, and quality-assure 3D models and technically complex manufacturing drawings.
- Drive new development: Design mechanical solutions and components from scratch using CAD.
- Plan and structure: Independently plan, execute, and take responsibility for your own design deliverables according to established frameworks.
- Drive improvements: Actively seek simplified working methods, with a special eye for opportunities within automation solutions.
We are looking for you who
- Engineering Degree: Completed university degree in Mechanical Engineering or another relevant field.
- Good practical knowledge of reading, interpreting, and producing technical 2D drawings, as well as working with 3D CAD (e.g., Creo, SolidWorks, Catia, or similar).
- Basic to good practical knowledge in similar mechanical roles, such as design, change management (ECO/ECM), or production-proximity engineering.
- Excellent communication skills in both Swedish and English, both verbal and written, as the role involves significant documentation and internal contact points.
- Ability to independently plan and execute tasks with a high degree of responsibility.
- Ability to undergo and pass a security clearance according to current security protection regulations.
It is an advantage if you have
- Basic or good knowledge of automation or experience in developing automated flows in design processes.
- Good practical knowledge of working in PDM or PLM systems (e.g., Windchill, Teamcenter) for managing drawing documentation.
