The Swedish National Board of Institutional Care (SiS) is a government agency responsible for providing individually tailored compulsory care for young people and adults with substance abuse issues. We operate in youth homes and homes for adults with substance abuse problems across the country. At SiS, your working life becomes an exciting challenge. Regardless of where you work within our organization or what position you hold, you help create life-changing change.

SiS Youth Home Fagared receives non-compulsory school-age boys with psychosocial problems, criminality, and substance abuse. We have departments in Lindome, Öxnevalla, and Gothenburg.

Job Description

Do you want to be part of creating life-changing change for vulnerable people? Then the position of Treatment Pedagogue at SiS Youth Home Fagared is a meaningful job for you.

At the departments in Lindome, we receive young people who are taken into care under the Support and Special Provisions Act for Young Persons (LVU), as well as young people sentenced under the Act on Closed Youth Care (LSU). We are now strengthening our staff with more treatment pedagogues for our LSU departments in Lindome. The departments are lockable treatment units in three different security classes, and we work to implement closed youth care for the target group of boys who have been sentenced to a criminal sanction under the Act on Closed Youth Care.

As a Treatment Pedagogue, you work in a team together with treatment assistants and treatment coordinators. Together, you are responsible for ensuring that the young people living with us receive the security, care, and treatment they need. We often encounter people in crisis, which means you work with qualified nursing and motivational work, as well as providing support in daily life. With the support of your knowledge in care and treatment work, you actively contribute to ensuring that treatment plans and implementation plans are carried out. Documentation is an important part of your work, contributing to legal certainty, planning, and follow-up of our operations. You contribute to maintaining security according to our routines and help ensure that daily life runs smoothly with school attendance, cleaning, cooking, etc. Being a contact person is also one of your duties. The work may also include mentoring new employees and interns.

This is a job for you who sees a positive challenge in supporting young people in difficult life situations. The work is sometimes demanding, but also very rewarding, varied, and full of meaning. Our vision is to be a place for change. This influences our attitude, engagement, and approach.

As a new employee, you will undergo SiS's basic training course of 10 weeks. The course alternates between theory and supervised introduction, preparing you for the therapist role in SiS operations.

Qualifications

To succeed in your work, you have a solid positive view of humanity. You are motivated to help people in a vulnerable life situation and share SiS's core values, being a place for change. Furthermore, you have a good ability to create engagement and participation among our young people. As a person, you are confident in yourself and find it easy to build relationships with young people as well as with other members of the staff. You have good communication skills and can maintain your calm even in stressful situations. You find it easy to cooperate with others and can handle conflicts in a constructive way.

You must also have:

  • A degree from a 2-year post-secondary education at a folk high school or university college (KY/YH) with a focus on social/pedagogical treatment work, or education from a university that we assess as equivalent
  • Category B driver's license
  • Good proficiency in Swedish, both spoken and written

Meritorious:

  • Experience working with people in vulnerable life situations
  • Experience in client-facing work.
  • Education in care and nursing
  • Experience working with our target group (e.g., youth care, prison services, etc.)

At SiS, we care about good employee relations. This means that as an employee, you take responsibility for your work, contribute to development, and participate in good cooperation.
