Orust – the green and safe island where thoughts are free and dreams come to life. We invest in development, welfare, and our employees. We are proud that our latest employee survey showed that nearly 90% of our staff are proud to work for Orust Municipality. Welcome to us!
About the workplace
The Individual and Family Care department consists of three units, each led by its own unit manager working in close collaboration. These include the Adult Unit (handling Social Services Act support, LSS, social psychiatry, violence in close relationships, and harmful substance use/addiction); Children and Youth (investigating needs for support and interventions under the Social Services Act and the Care of Young Persons Act); and Working Life and Sustainment, which includes the labor market unit and economic assistance.
For us, development, creativity, and innovative thinking are key components in meeting current and future needs. We aim to create operations that continuously change and adapt based on people's varying needs for support and societal developments.
Your responsibilities
We are looking for a Social Secretary for the Working Life and Sustainment unit, within the Economic Assistance department. In our unit, we work to investigate and assess entitlement to economic assistance in a legally secure manner, provide advice and support to our residents, and guide them toward self-sufficiency. As society's ultimate safety net, you will meet residents with diverse and sometimes complex needs. The causes of financial difficulties may vary, but the goal is always to support individuals in achieving sustainable self-sufficiency, even if the path differs from person to person. We have high expectations for residents to take responsibility for their own life situations, while tailoring our approach to their unique needs. This requires a balanced approach between setting demands and providing motivation.
As a Social Secretary in economic assistance, you are a crucial link in the chain toward sustainable self-sufficiency. Some of your tasks will include:
- Investigating and assessing entitlement to economic assistance
- Mapping individual needs and matching them with appropriate interventions
- Creating individual plans together with the client
- Following up to ensure continuity and progress for the individual
- Collaborating closely with colleagues in other units and external partners to design the best possible support for the client
About you
For this position, you must have a degree in Social Work or another university-level education that the employer deems equivalent. Experience and knowledge of working with economic assistance and change management are meritorious. Since part of the work involves documentation, you must be able to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing. Experience with the Lifecare system is also a plus.
You understand that a holistic view of the resident's situation is required to achieve sustainable self-sufficiency. You have a positive outlook and believe that all individuals have their own resources, although sometimes people need help seeing those resources themselves. You possess empathy but can also distinguish between personal and professional boundaries.
As a person, you are creative, solution-oriented, and open to testing new ideas. You have a coaching and motivating approach, along with strong collaboration and dialogue skills. You are self-reliant and take responsibility for your work in a structured way that drives progress. You are stable and handle stressful situations constructively. You should have strong analytical skills and not be afraid to make independent decisions based on your delegation. Personal suitability is of great importance to us.
Finally, like us, you enjoy going to work!
