The role of youth worker with responsibility for youth influence combines relationship-building work, development issues, and fieldwork with a focus on young people's needs and opportunities. 

In Krokom Municipality, we have youth clubs on four locations: Föllinge, Änge, Ås, and Krokom.

Within Culture and Leisure, there are 17 permanent employees, but we also have project and hourly employees. 

The Culture and Leisure department is part of the Growth area within the Municipal Executive Office. All operations within the Growth area have a responsibility to contribute to sustainable growth in Krokom Municipality. This includes the departments of Business, Property, Planning and Traffic, Waste, Water and Sewerage, and the Learning Centre. 

The Municipal Executive Office supports three committees: the Municipal Executive Board, the Building and Environment Committee, and the Community Planning Committee. The office employs approximately 135 staff and is divided into the Support Area, the Building and Environment Area, and the Community Planning and Growth Area. 

A day as a youth worker with responsibility for youth influence 

No day is the same, and that is exactly what makes the job so exciting.

Part of the work involves meeting students in the municipality's schools. For example, you might start the day with a student council, leading workshops on democracy and influence, supporting students in developing their ideas, and giving them tools to influence issues that are important to them. Through your work, you contribute to strengthening young people's voices in matters affecting their daily lives.

Back at the office, you follow up on ongoing projects together with your colleagues, plan activities, and coordinate work with the municipality's youth influence forum. You write background materials, maintain contact with partners, and ensure that young people's perspectives are included in the municipality's development work.

The role also offers great opportunities to develop youth club and youth center activities. A couple of days a week, the youth club opens for lower secondary school students, where you create activities, build relationships, and capture ideas and needs together with the children. At the youth center, you meet upper secondary and high school students in a safe, drug-free, and inclusive environment where community, participation, and personal development are in focus. Here, you help shape the activities based on young people's interests and contribute to creating a meaningful leisure time.

On some evenings and weekends, you may also participate in the municipality's fieldwork. Then you meet young people where they are, for example, at events, meeting places, and out in society. This is work focused on relationship-building, safety-enhancing measures, and a preventive perspective where presence and good adult contacts make a difference.

In this role, you combine the best of two worlds; you get to work strategically to develop young people's influence while also meeting young people directly in their daily lives every week. It is a job where you have the opportunity to make a real difference, both here and now and for the future.

Your qualifications

We are looking for you who want to work with young people and youth influence in Krokom Municipality. You have good cooperation skills and find it easy to connect with people, regardless of age. We are looking for someone who can take initiative and feels a great responsibility for developing the operations.  

Requirements

• You are educated as a youth worker, or have another education and/or experience that the employer finds equivalent or relevant
• Ability to express yourself in Swedish, both orally and in writing 
• Good computer skills 
• Driver's license for passenger car

We require a certificate of good conduct 

Merits

• Experience from working with similar tasks
• Experience of conducting training 

Other information

The position is a permanent position at 100% with start date according to agreement.

The work takes place both during the day and in the evening.  Weekend and night work may occur. Our youth centers are open 2-3 evenings a week between 18.00-21.00.

Krokom, the municipality in the middle of Jämtland
