Since April 2023, RFSL Jämtland Härjedalen has been running the project Testpoint JH to reduce the stigma surrounding HIV and STIs in the region. We are now looking for a substitute for our coordinator during her leave of absence. In this role, you will work with testing our target group for HIV and STIs, offering counseling and support conversations, as well as giving school lectures throughout the county.

RFSL Jämtland Härjedalen is an association for homosexuals, bisexuals, trans people, queer people, and intersex people in Jämtland and Härjedalen. The association's work consists of social activities, information activities in schools, sexual health activities, and political influence. RFSL is an anti-racist and feminist organization.

Job Responsibilities

As part of the project, we run a testing clinic primarily aimed at trans people and men who have sex with men. We offer anonymous and free HIV and STI testing with rapid results. The clinic is a safe, low-threshold service, independent of regular healthcare.

As a coordinator, you will receive visitors at our premises in Östersund and around the county to assist with self-testing. Everyone who gets tested for HIV should be offered an informational counseling conversation. The conversation should also be motivating and leave room for reflection.

The work will also involve spreading information about HIV and STIs to destigmatize these topics in Jämtland and Härjedalen, as well as informing about hbtqi (LGBTQ+) in general. This can be done through lectures and information dissemination in schools, for other organizations, and at events. A central part of our operations is building networks and collaborating with both existing and new organizations. It also includes competence-building for staff and volunteers in other organizations regarding the subject.

It is important that you can grasp the overall goals of the project and can plan, implement, and evaluate continuously, as well as work efficiently and create good collaboration with your project colleague and others within the organization.

You are responsible for documenting your work and, at the end of the employment, reporting your part of the project together with your colleague and the employer.

The position is a 75% temporary contract until February and is located in our premises in central Östersund, where you will work closely with your colleague who works as a communicator in the project. Some possibility for remote work exists.

Requirements

• You have a university education as a social worker or equivalent experience.

• You have competence regarding hbtqi (LGBTQ+) issues (primarily MSM/trans) and norm-critique, and you share RFSL's values and are interested in human rights work.

• You have experience supporting people in crisis.

• You have experience or education in counseling support, e.g., MI method (Motivational Interviewing).

• Driver's license B.

Merits

• You have experience from non-profit organizations, associations, and/or volunteer work.

• You have personal experiences of hbtqi+ and/or an established network within hbtqi+ in Jämtland Härjedalen.

• You have good knowledge of Sami language and culture and/or other languages and cultures.

Terms of Employment

100% temporary contract until February, start immediately.

Working hours may vary as the operations are goal-oriented and may include evenings and some weekends. Being present in Östersund is important, but some possibility for remote work exists.
